New Neighbor

"Young lady wake up we have to get on the road." my mother yelled from across the hall.

"Fine I'm coming mother." I hated this idea I had friends and people I knew here now I'm moving to Gotham which was the last place I wanted to be. I grabbed the sold black shirt tattered blue jeans and black convers I started to get dressed and walk down stairs to meet her. "Ready."

"Alrighty off to a new start." she said handing the new owner of our home the key. thinking to my self this better be worth the move as I got into the car. I looked out to see my friends waving by to me. I only had two, but two was better than no one. I didn't wanna move and I hated the idea of it.

"Harleen Qunizel answer me when I'm talking to you." she yelled at me from the front seat I looked up.

" sorry mom I was lost in my thought." she looked down at me even more mad. I couldn't help it I love being trapped in my own mind I was like another home for me. I sighed. "Yes mom."

"when you get to school be careful who you talk to this is a school for the insane." she spoke softly.

"Then why the hell do I need to be here?" I already knew her answer.

" Because of my and your fathers work. Something you need to consider I wont baby you your whole life. I know this new life will be harder on you but think of it as a way to excel." She caught that I was getting angrier by her words so we didn't speak the rest of the ride to the new home. I mostly used my data to read online books and blared music in my head phones to ac/dc. about a hour drive or so we had reached the house it was a two story never had a two story before but that's ok.

"Harleen we are here oh I'm so excited!" My mom partly squealed. I could tell this new life might have a few ups, but that was only until school starts and school didn't start here for another 2 weeks so that was another upside to this. I walked inside and up stairs to claim my bedroom. after looking threw two of them I got to the last one and it was a beat-up door with a hole in it but it was black so that was ok. I walked inside and noticed I had a window that had a made in bench to it so I could see the abandon house next door as well as the road in front of our house. The week slowly drug by it was the same routine mom left at 6 am didn't get home till 7pm unless she was working nights my dad was 7am to midnight. I was always alone but it didn't bother me it let me paint my room, pin photos up, dance, Blair music and practice flips on my roof some would be considered normal teenager things except the roof. The neighbors became used to it and it didn't shock them as much any more. as I was hanging on the ledge of my window seal blasting kid rock I saw a car pull up to the abandon house which caught me off guard it was not that the house ugly it was just it wasn't what I would think someone lived in it reminded me of a two story book store it was plain and had no life to it but it wasn't broken or beat down.

I stopped to watch the family get out the mother had drak black hair to her waist and was smiling wearing a dress that reminded me of the 60's. Then man was dressed in blue jeans with a plaid shirt and boots he was bald which was funny to me. Except when the boy got out he had bright green hair and was very pail he had on solid black everything. He pulled out a lighter and lit up a cigarette of course he started smoking it something made me fall for him but why? Was it cuz he looked crazy and cute or was it me being stupid what ever it was I stepped back into my room and began to do tumbels and flips I laughed as I managed a hand stand but I felt like I was being watched but when I started looking none was there. I hoped out of my handstand and headed to lay down to relax.

JOKERS POV

I looked out my window in hopes for a breathe of fresh air but I caught something more interesting a girl, a very pretty girl. she was flipping and moving in ways I had never seen a girl do our age. she really was making me very interested I just could not take my eyes off her those ass shorts were just icing on the cake. Fuck I got to know who she is her name everything. But why did she interest me so well. I looked away as soon as she stopped. I need to make sure she dont notice me until the time is right. Of course mom did not notice anyone at the house until her mother got there. "Jack run over to the neighbor and see if they have any tools your father left his and we could use some." I sighed I really didn't wanna but I had to so I got ready and out the door I went.
