Seeing the Unseen Chapter Eleven:

"School Days"

"We're staying here with you," Oxe announced, Mason standing behind them.

Mason shifted uncomfortably before translating Oxe's cryptic words. "Oxe took up our little... dilemma with the Z'ç and they decided that the two of us should stay here with you, posing as humans, until we find a solution."

"As humans?" I asked.

The pair simply nodded.

Mason gripped my hand cautiously as we made our way to my high school. The brunet seemed slightly out of it since his senses were being overwhelmed by feelings he'd never experienced before.

"H-Hello, Bea!"

I had us stop in order to let Carly catch up. She was a panting mess, but grinning from ear to ear nonetheless.

"W-Who's this?"

Mason lifted his left hand. "I'm Mason."

"Carly." She smiled. "Are you B-Bea's boyfriend?"

Mason's eyebrows drew together, confused by the curly haired girl's inquiry. "What's a-"

I just shook my head. "He's new here, so I'm showing him around."

Mason smiled brightly, making Carly blush. "Beatrice is helping me find my classes and get around. I've never lived in this area before."

"Mason, I can't help you with everything. You're a junior and I'm a sophomore."

He just nodded. Thankfully, I had given him a crash course on the American school system. Hopefully his classes wouldn't pose too many problems as Oxe made him take some of the hardest classes offered in order to do it "properly."

I wasn't pessimistic, but I highly doubted that the same guy who freaked out when he saw a television could take AP Calculus AB.

"Can I-I have your phone n-number?"

"My caretaker hasn't purchased one yet."

Carly cocked her head to the side. "As in your mom or dad?"

"No."

"Aunt, uncle, grandma, or grandpa?" She further pressed.

"We need to get to creative writing!" My grip tightened on Mason as I bid my friend farewell and rushed us to class.

Mason sat beside me at a two person desk, shivering like a Chihuahua.

"B-Beatrice, I feel odd..."

I took off my black pullover and helped him get it on. The clothing article was a few sizes too big for me, so it fit perfectly on him. He instantly cuddled into its warmth, making me crack up.

"That's what cold and warm feel like," I explained.

"I don't like the cold."

I felt his hand with my own, smiling at the cool radiance it was giving off. Him being "human" only cut back on the chill slightly.

People arrived at various different times until the bell rang, signaling that they were late. Of course this meant that it was time to come in, the stragglers entering after the bell coursed through the building.

"Poetry."

The class looked up at our teacher, Mrs. Goans, as she wrote the word up on the whiteboard in big, scrawling handwriting.
