It was the same every day. What happened yesterday will be the same for tomorrow. As if it was a maze I can't escape.

I, Theo Gibson, after graduatin, to get the assurance I could live peacefully in the future, I applied for a job. Since I have no family nor relatives alive, I could save up more money, but because of that, I have nothing to focus on but work.

a programmer in the day and a freelance graphic designer at night, working tirelessly to contribute my part and releasing my stresses through work. Sometimes i  sleep at the office and skip meals, it was a bad habit of mine.

Going home at 6 pm, taking the bus at 6:30 pm, freelancing at 7:00 pm to 12:00 pm, then waking up at 5 am to clean and exercise, after that  i will go to work at 8 am and the day would start all over again.

It was always this way.
...
..
.

After a day of work, I fell ill all of a sudden. So I've taken a different route than my usual.

My eyesight's begun to blur, green light's blink on at the crossway I will be taking. Because I couldn't see things clearly, I just decided to start walking across.

For a moment, everything felt slow, my hearing begun to stung all of a sudden from the deafening high pitch sounds and blaring lights.

I stop for a moment to look directly at the flashing lights. It was coming from a truck running at speed towards me. Before I could react, the truck was already at my skin. After that, the next I know I was sent flying.

It caught me by surprise; I didn't feel any pain, for an instant, I felt I was falling sideways.

I didn't know that the human body can be twisted in so many ways. That is what I saw just now. I saw myself floating in for a second but it felt as if I was falling.

*thud *thud *shhss...

The sound of my body gliding on the cold asphalt.

In the end, I was left staring at the sky, as if I was wishing at the night stars that weren't there.

It was only natural because I lived in the city, where light pollution is high, and also the weather forecast said it will be cloudy this day.

'I should have brought my umbrella' I thought.

As if I predicted the weather, drips of cold water came to my senses. And the rain started pouring on my body.

'So cold, I want to sleep' I said to myself and then my mind started to dim.

Drifting my thought on how cold it was.

I remembered my own life was cold, the last time I felt warm was when I was hugged by my older sister at my high school graduation.

Flashback

It was a sight to be seen, the setting sun, cold breeze of the night starts to cool the surroundings.

Sitting all by myself on the school grounds, waiting for the day to end, thinking of how I graduated without any friends.

The leaves started to fall, staring at them, hopes and wishes with it. The wind starts to blow, drifting my thoughts with it up to the ever-changing sky.

"What are you thinking about?"

Suddenly, a familiar voice takes over.

I turn over that direction and to find out it was my older sister that seems I couldn't remember her face.

I turn back my head to the sky again and answered honestly,

"I was thinking about how I graduated without having any friends."

"How about ******** and ********?"

She suggested.

"They didn't talk to me after that group project though."

"umuh"

I heard her pouting.

Because of her behavior, she acted more like my younger sister than an older sister.

Then I felt her arms cling to my shoulders, as if hugging me, she held more tightly and said,

"Don't say that you just didn't notice them yet."

Comforting as it is, I hold on to it.

.............................................................................................................

As the curtain of the night fell, memories of my past that I still treasured reminiscence while I was still lying on the cold and wet asphalt.

I closed my eyes, feeling the wind, and the rustling leaves on the trees are what I heard next.

Feeling unnatural, I cut off from my slumber and open my eyes. Grassland and forest were laid before my sight. A view that could only be seen in the past and secluded villages

By surprise, I unintentionally stand up from where I was lying before, and notice I wasn't lying at the asphalt. It was covered in green grass and it leads to the forest.

The sun was still in the high sky; clearly, it wasn't midnight but early afternoon.

The wind blew through the grass, as I smell through my nostril the moist soil and grass mixing in the wind, wave of grass started to move like green water and the wind started to make way through the forest, rustling the trees in the process.
