My salvation – part II
I was walking down the road. I passed the streets and the huge houses of the people in my neighborhood. I walked past the park and looked at the trees. I took a deep breath and looked up at the stars. After another couple of minutes, I could see the dim lights of the bridge. I smiled thinking about that day.
That day when I found her. When I saved her, and she saved me. How my life had changed since then. It’s been exactly three years today when I saw her face for the first time.
It was the first night we had shared together, and the start of something new for the both of us.
“Lauren, do you want to help me making pancakes? It’s been a long time since I made them, and I don’t want to ruin your first real breakfast in days” I said to her. I was standing at the kitchen counter, holding a pack of pancake mix and reading the description. Lauren was sitting behind me at the kitchen table, watching me.
We had just woken up an hour ago from our first night together. She was wearing one of my sweats and baggy shirts, and I was dressed pretty much the same. I turned around to face her and looked at her with questioning eyes. She stood up and walked towards me. She grabbed the pancake mix out of my hands and started reading the description.
I’ve got to say, she looks extremely cute in those baggy clothes and her ‘’just-woke-up-hair’’. She looked up at me and smiled. “You seriously don’t know how to make pancakes?” she asked me. “No, I do know how to make them, I just want to make sure that I don’t get a chance to burn them or anything.” I answered.
She just laughed at me and put the pack behind me on the counter. She took a step closer to me and looked me in the eyes. Her piercing green eyes were looking at me with interest and captivated me. Suddenly she closed her eyes, and it was then that I noticed that she was leaning in to me.
I felt her lips brush against mine and I closed my eyes. She wasn’t putting any pressure in this kiss, and I hardly even felt her lips. I could feel my body heat rising as my skin was burning with desire. I took a small step forward and pushed my lips harder against hers. I could feel her smile as I deepened it. She kissed me back passionately but lovingly and pulled away after a few minutes.
She smiled and pushed her forehead against mine. “I think I really like you, Camila” she whispered softly.
I smile as I remember our first real kiss the morning after I had found her on that bridge. I remember telling her that I liked her too and I certainly remember the kiss that followed. Our first day together was pretty much spent in bed. We just lay down, talked, got to know each other, ate and sometimes there were little kisses getting stolen from each other. I remember that day as the day that I started to feel alive again.
Two days later, I asked her if we could make it official between us.
“Lauren, can I ask you something?” I asked her carefully. “Yeah, sure Camz.” She answered. I smiled at the nickname she gave me. It was different from the nickname everybody else had always given me and it showed me once again that she was meant to make a difference in my life.
