a beep from my phone fills the room
i jump up to see from who
i scream (in my head) when i see his name
that's what it means to be in love
after our date we kiss in his car
he drops me off at his house
a second after we say our goodbyes
i miss him
we just spent a night together, but i want to see his smile again
that's what it means to be in love
it's about time to meet his parents
i go in to shake hands with his mom, but instead his mom gives me a hug
she talks about how his son is always talking about me
he blushes
that's what it means to be in love
two years later our bond has grown
but something is suddenly in our way
we fight 24/7 and when i yell "i'm not talking to you!", he doesn't fight back
that's what it means to fall out of love
he takes me out to a hamburger joint
our conversations are short and awkward, like when you are on a first date. i end the date by calling my mom to pick me up. when i get home i cry. and cry. that's what it means to fall out of love.
finally i break up with him. something about us just didn't work out. i delete his number and all our pictures together. a beep from my phone fills the room. the text is from him. i ignore and delete the text. that's what it means to learn from love.
