“And you’re sure we won’t get into trouble for this?” Raine asked.
Raine and I were currently sitting on the last available carriage going to the castle.
“One hundred percent. I’ve been pulling pranks since first year and I’ve never gotten in trouble for even one. In fact,” I said, smirking, “You’ve gotten into trouble for my pranks before.”
Raine’s eyebrows shot up and her mouth formed into a perfect ‘O’. “What?! Which ones?!”
“Flooding all the girls lavatories in second year, setting off about a hundred and one dungbombs in the dungeons in second, third, and fourth year, posting notices in every common saying “Superhero costume day: May 16” in fourth year, charming Professor Trelawney’s cups to always have a grim in them last year, and putting labels saying “DRINK ME” on the potions in Slughorns class last year.” I said, counting them off on my fingers as I said them.
“You are an evil mastermind, you know that?” She asked, grinning.
“Yep.” I said, popping the ‘p’. “Do we need to go over the plan one more time?”
“Nope; I think I’ve got it.” She said, and I could tell she was going over it one more time in her head.
After Malfoy had left, Raine and I had spent close to an hour scheming up pranks to play on him. Together our diabolical minds could definitely rival James’s and Sirius’s. When we reached the castle we joined the group heading to the Great Hall and made sure we were both ready to do what we needed to do.
“He’ll be in in about twenty minutes, be ready.” I whispered to Raine before breaking away from the group before we entered the Great Hall. I swiftly hid in the shadows behind a suit of armor and waited for Malfoy to arrive. For some reason he likes to be “fashionably late” every year. Moron.
He arrived around twenty minutes later, like I knew he would. I quietly whispered, “Epileptus,” and had to stifle my laughter when Malfoy’s hair started to rapidly flash vibrant random colors. I threw my invisibility cloak (my trusty sidekick for many pranks) around myself and waited for Malfoy to open the doors to the Great Hall so I could slip in behind him.
He hadn’t even stepped fully into the Great Hall before all of his clothes, except his bright blue boxers of course, completely disappeared and the hall erupted into laughter.
While everyone’s attention was on Malfoy I went and sat at the end of the Ravenclaw table, taking off my cloak. Nobody had noticed as they’re eyes were all still on Malfoy, who had gone bright red by now. After a few more seconds of what seemed like an internal debate, he ran out of the hall. This had to have been one of my best pranks so far.
After some time the laughter died down and everyone began to eat and talk amongst themselves again. Dinner and the rest of the night went by quickly; I didn’t talk to Raine again for the remainder of the night, but we did share mischief filled glances.
My alarm clock went off far too early for my taste, but was normal time for all other students in my house. I wasn’t too sure about other houses, but the people in my house were up at the crack of dawn every morning, even weekends! So everyone else was dressed and studying already so they could know everything about everything in their classes today while I was attempting to get myself out of bed.
Eventually I got myself out of bed and somehow ended up in the Great Hall completely dressed. This was in fact a big accomplishment as I almost always forget at least one item of clothing every morning for the first two weeks of school, or until I get the hang of my screwed up sleeping schedule.
When I got my timetable, I was actually happy with what was on it for once. Usually I have at least four if not five classes with Slytherin every year which means four to five classes with Malfoy. This year though, I had only three. Most of my classes were with Gryffindor this year, I didn’t have any with Hufflepuff. I found this to be extremely good news, as Raine was a Gryffindor, so I might be having some classes with her.
“Oo! Let me see your timetable!” Raine said from behind me rather loudly.
“Alright; can I see yours?” I said quietly.
“Ya, of course!” She handed me hers and snatched mine from the table.
“Wow! We have almost every class together.” Raine said, grinning. “Only two are different, that’s great! Even our break periods are the same.”
“That’s amazing!” I said, unable to keep the smile from my face.
“Yes, yes it is! Come with me, I want to introduce to my friends.” Raine yelled, practically pulling me from my seat.
“Wait, Raine, wait!” I said loudly, but in actuality it was only a normal person’s speaking voice.
“What is it?” She stopped and turned to me with a questioning look.
“Um, well, it’s just that, I don’t really do so well with meeting and talking to new people. Especially groups of people.” I said softly.
“But you talked to me just fine on the train.” Raine pointed out.
“Yes, but you were just one person. And you talked to me first.”
“Please come meet them, Lottie?” Raine begged. “I promise you’ll like them and they’ll like you!”
“Uh, I dunno.” I murmured.
“Please?” Raine begged again, this time pulling puppy dog eyes which she was very bad at and it made me laugh. “What’s so funny?!” She demanded.
“I promise I’ll come meet them if you promise to never make that face again!”
Raine promptly agreed then dragged me off to meet her friends.
