I felt the cold sheets beneath my back, sweat trickled down my neck and my pulse thundered in my ears. I could still feel the heat. Fire.

I sat up on my bed and wiped off the sweat that had collected on my forehead. I took in deep, hollow breaths before turning on my lamp. I could hear birds chirping and crickets humming. I put my feet on the floor and quietly looked through my window.  The sun was just pulling through the hills and fighting up to the sky. The sky was blazed. Fire. I layed on my bed. I didn't want to move. It was Saturday, and Monday I started at a new school. New team. New people. New life. That's what my mom told me when she finally agreed on our family moving to Greg's house.

I smelled pancakes and bacon. Saturday. Greg was making breakfast. I got up and made my way down the steps of our new house. I walked into the kitchen and saw none other than Greg flipping pancakes. He looked up and smiled.

"Good morning, how'd you sleep." I whispered.

"Good. Do you want to go shopping today? New school clothes."

"Yeah, but can it be me and you not Mom." I said quietly.

I didn't want to go shopping. Wasn't my scene, but I did need new clothes. Clothes that didn't make me look like I was from the matrix.

"Yeah, why?" He asked.

Even though I loved Greg and if anybody had to be my new dad it would be him, but I was still pissed. She got over what happened way to fast.

  I shrugged.

"Yea. Your Mom is working today."  He said plating a pancake and three peices of bacon.

I bit into the bacon and started snacking on my breakfast. Greg put the dishes in the sink, after we finished. He leaned over and kissed my forehead.

"I know you're still upset about your Mom but I love you both and will do anything for you two. Just know that I know I will never replace them, but I can try and make it better." He finished, taking his hand off my shoulder and smiled.

I smiled back and he left the room. I went up our steps and put on my shoes.

New team. New people. New life. New clothes. New Dad?
