NOTE: this story has nothing to do with Harry Potter even though the main character's name is Severus.

Severus' POV:

May 17, 2005

It was a warm night at my small house in suburban area of thourston. Dad took me outside because he told me "he was lonely at nighttime" which confused me because he is normally home unless he has to work late. As he took me outside, the wind started to pick up. The wind blew faster and faster almost fast enough to blow me off my feet! When the wind was really strong, Dad quickly grabbed my hand and after about 2 minutes, the wind turned cyclonic and started to close in on us. Me and my dad were caught in a cyclone. Or so I thought. Everything was a total blur for a while and when the cyclone broke, and the wind calmed down, we were in a forest, except I was alone, with a cat.

This cat I was with, looked quite similar to my dad, if he were a cat. Brown, shaggy fur , baby blue eyes, seemed odd. My dad mysteriously vanished and there was this cat. I was trying to find out where I was when I heard a soft weeping sound. I turned to see.... The cat crying? I'd never heard of a cat crying but this cat was. Tears streaming down it's face. after a few minutes, the cat took a deep breath. he lifted up his paw and struck it at my face. It hurt so badly I actually started to cry, which was quite odd because I've been scratched by a cat before and it didn't hurt as bad as this. The whole world suddenly began to blacken around me. Blood oozing down my cheek, I suddenly felt tired and weak. As I started to lay down and close my eyes, I saw the cat start to cry again, and that was the last thing I saw.

When I finally came to, it was only for a brief amount of time. I was laying on my couch at home and I think it was about midnight. Suddenly, I heard things like, "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS?!?! HE IS OUR SON! WE COULD HAVE TALKED ABOUT THIS TOGETHER AND NOW HE HAS A CHANCE OF DYING?!?!" I knew that was my mom from her voice. Then my dad said in his mellow voice, "Honey, it's for his own good! He will learn to fight! If I hadn't done this, he could have been attacked by our enemy! trust me dear." Then, I could hear my mom say "Let's worry about that later, dear. For now, we have to take care of Sevy." I decided to touch my cheek to check if it stopped bleeding. it was the wrong choice. it stung like crazy. "Sevy dear, don't touch that. you might want to rest a little more." my mom said. By then, I was struggling to stay awake, so I let go. And everything blacked out.

When I finally woke up, I was in my own bed. I felt better, but a bit strange. I knew my parents had some explaining to do.

It would have been a nice night to go for a stroll if only my dad insisted not. "But Dad, it's a great night to go for a walk!" I begged to Dad "Sev, I have work to do tonight. Sorry Wildcat." Dad replied. Dad used to call me wildcat. "Why can't I come? I bet it would be fun!" I asked Dad. "For the last time. It's too dangerous for you! I mean, I don't want an almost nine year old boy to be wandering around at a very important meeting! You are too young to join the werecat committee." Dad replied. He was right. You have to be 14 years old to join the werecat committee. I still had about 5 years yet I was dying to join at anytime. "Fine Dad. Be back soon." I finally said to Dad. "Be safe, honey." Mom said to Dad. Then we all hugged good bye and expected him to be home by about midnight. That was the last time I ever saw my dad.

When my dad didn't return in the morning, my mom called the police and they went to look for him. he was never found. And that is how the first decade of my life went.
