Sanji sat in his hammock, staring at the cieling. He wouldn't dare go to sleep, it wasn't worth it. For the past 2 months or so now He's been having horrible nightmares. Everytime he even closed his eyes dark images haunted him. Now he decided he was just going to stop sleeping all together.

When the nightmares would occur, Sanji would wake up screaming and Zoro would be at his side comforting the blonde. Sanji usually just layed in his arms, not saying anything, not even making a sound. No matter how scared he was, he wouldn't dare cry infront of his crewmates, not even Zoro.

Now that he stopped sleeping, he couldn't fight as well, he was getting injured more often, even his cooking was starting to get a bit sloppy. Tonight was night 4 of no sleep. He looked around him, everyone else was sound asleep. It also happened to be a very cold night, forcing him to curl under blankets, making him cozy and warm, which did not help him stay awake at all.

He looked at the clock. It was 1AM, Zoro just started his shift. Sanji let out a yawn. Hes not sure when it happened, but he fell asleep, he blinked and his eyes didn't open afterwards.

About 20 minutes later, he shot up, sweating buckets and panting heavily. His hand clutched his shirt. He looked around frantically for Zoro, but could not find him. Then he remembered, Zoro was still on his watch, he quickly got up and made his way out onto the deck and climbed up to the crows nest.

Zoro didn't even hear Sanji come up, he looked over and saw the blonde standing there staring at the ground with his hands in his pockets. "Another nightmare?" Sanji simply nodded, but kept his head down."Come here" Zoro lifted the blanket and Sanji practically jumped to his side, curling up to him.

Zoro wrapped an arm around him, rubbing his back. "You wanna talk about it?" He felt Sanji shake his head. "S-shity M-marimo. You're not m-my Th-therapist or anything." Zoro raised an eyebrow. "fine then I'll leave?" He felt Sanji's grip tighten and his head being burried further, if possible, into his chest. Zoro grinned and chuckled a bit to himself. "That's what i thought"

They sat there for a bit, like they usually did when this happened. Sanji would just curl up to him until he felt better. This was just like it normally was, or atleast thats what zoro thought until he heard a sniffle and a small whimper coming from the man in his arms. "Oi" He rubbed his back a bit harder. "You ok?"

Sanji sniffled again and moved his head a bit so he could be heard. "I-I just want it to s-stop....why wont it g-go away? p-please make it stop zoro. please?" He choked out before hiding his face again, small sobs escaping his shaking body. Zoro held him closer and ran a hand through his hair. "Shhh, i know you're scared, but I'll always be here, i wont let anything hurt you.shhh" Sanji tried wiping the tears away furiously with his hand, but they kept coming. "hey hey hey" Zoro gently grabbed his hand. "stop it, you'll make your eyes sore. It's ok to cry Sanji, It's just me, you trust me don't you? I know you're scared, seeing you cry won't make me think any different of you." He kissed the blondes forehead.

Sanji put his hand down and let the tears flow. All the pain he'd been bottling up finally came out. He felt safe showing his feeling infront of Zoro, he's the only person that doesn't judge him.

After a few minutes Sanji had calmed to only sniffles and a few hics. "feel better?" He nodded and shifted a bit, snuggling into the larger man as he tried to stifle a yawn. Zoro smiled a bit and leaned down, whispering into his ear "you need to sleep." Sanji was about to say something, but was interrupted by usopp. "Hey zoro you up there! your shift is over!" zoro looked down at his lover. He felt his grip tighten. "go back to bed usopp I'll take another shift!"

Sanji yawned again and rubbed his covered eye. Zoro smiled again and pulled the blanket tighter around them. "It's Ok you can sleep, if you have another nightmare I'll be right here. You need sleep. we'll stay up here, I won't let anyone see." Sanjis eyelids were beginning to get heavy. "promise you'll be here?"

"yes I promise." Sanji wasted no time falling asleep. he whimpered after only a few moments. "they're not gonna get you Sanji. " Zoro whispered reassuring words into his ear until he was sleeping peacefully. these nightmares were a recent development. Sanji never talked about them, but even mentioning them was enough to break him down. he wished he could chase away whatever was scaring his Sanji. He would slice them slowly, making sure they suffered. he gritted his teeth and growled to himself. Sanji snuggled closer, as if the noise were comforting.

he awoke the next morning exactly where he fell asleep. "did you sleep good?" he yawned and stretched his arms a bit "doesn't feel like I had any nightmares, did I sleep all night?" zoro nodded as Sanji rubbed his eye. "Five more minutes?" Zoro chuckled softly and rubbed his back again. "you can sleep as long as you want, I'll stay here."
