The confession

you walk with ame, through the rocky terrain of the mountains in the pouring rain. 'I can't believe he's actually gonna pull through with this..' you thought eyeing the once timid young wolf boy as fat drops of water dampened his hair. you snorted silently and carried on without another word. "...you understand... don't you?" ame abruptly asked. you looked up at him quizzically to see him looking at you. "why I'm doing this. I'm doing this to protect what sensei has protected over these years. I'm doing it for the mountains." he said. you lowered an ear. "w-what about human hana?" you asked. "what?" he asked raising an eyebrow. "I mean, hana. your... human mother." you specified. he stopped. uh oh. had you said something wrong? "...she'll be fine." he simply stated as he continued to walk. you trotted up to him and stared at him. "it might hurt.. but she'll soon come to realize.. this is my chosen path. I was destined to protect these mountains." he said in a calm voice. he then got in front of you and knelt to your height. "And I don't want to do this alone." your eyes widened slightly. "eh..?"

he abruptly ran his smooth hand along your soggy furred head. "you've been with me for a long time, no matter what. you've supported me throughout my life, despite me being... out there." he explained. you stared on, not sure of what to think. "I want you to use that support for me throughout the life I'm about to lead. and in turn... I'll return the favor." he said now on his knees, his pants soaking up the wetness of the mud. "return.. the favor..?" you repeated a bit confused.

"I'll give you all of my love and care like you had given me all these years." he elaborated. he then wrapped his arms around your shoulders, much to your suprise. "A-Ame..?" he looked up at you with that same look he gave you when he was training with sensei. "I... want you as my partner." he murmured. your mouth opened as you gasped. "I know that this is sudden. and I know that I am half human. And seeing me confess like this in human form to a wolf is strange. but deep down... I'm truly a wolf. please.. give me a chance to prove it. I'll protect you with all my being. I'll fight tooth and claw for you. I promise, I am more mature than mom makes me out to be." he said. he tightened his grip and buried his face in your damp chest fur. "so, (y/n)? what do you say? will you help me defend sensei's mountain?" he looked up at you pleadingly.

then it hit you. right then and there. the feelings for ame. despite him being partial human, in his wolf form, you wouldn't even know he was even remotely human. he looked as if he were born to live the wolf's life. he was home... not only that but he was noble. he cared for any and all the animals of the mountain. he was also kind and calm. he was a truly noble wolf to have by your side. you know that no matter what he is, human nor wolf, that you have and will always love him for his golden wolf heart. he was a wolf in the spirit and you both knew it.

"Ame..." you managed to find your voice again. he looked into your (color) eyes. you pressed your nose into his cheek. still as soft and warm as it was years ago. "I... accept my place at your side." you murmured into his ear. he smiled brightly and rubbed his face deeper into your chest fur. "thank you, (y/n). I promise, I will take good care of you. now and forever." the took your muddy paws off the ground and held them in his hands. "together, we'll protect these mountains." he touched his nose to your cheek. then a loud cry split the air along with a wet Thunk! that voice.. sounded familiar.. Ame's face dropped. "what.. was..?" you asked. he then got up onto his two legs. "follow me." he said as he walked to a direction. you followed hastily after him. after a bit of walking, you saw a human female in a yellow coat laying sprawled across the muddy ground... it's funny.. with her short brown hair she looked like... "h-human hana!" you squeaked. is she breathing!? ame crouched down and studied his unconscious mother. "...she's okay." he murmered, scooping her up.
