detention

"Mr. Wilson?"

"Mr. Wilson, wake up right now."

I quickly shoot up after being hit in the back of my head with an eraser. I look behind me, seeing Brandon, my best friend, smiling cheekily and looking back at me. I send him a quick glare and flip him off, thinking that I went unnoticed.

Why didn't he wake me up earlier? He could've saved my ass but decided not to. He deserved that finger.

"Ahem," Mrs. Cey was standing above me, her eyes narrowed as she slips a detention note on my desk. I groan, throwing my head back. "You should know why you have this."

Mrs. Cey walked back over to the front of the room and I turned to look at Brandon again, hearing a few snickers. 'Are you kidding me?' I mouth, pouting. He simply shrugs, leaning back in his chair. Turning around, I roll my eyes and look at the clock. 7 minutes until school ended.

Well, not really. I had detention now.

It's not my fault that math class is this boring. Especially when you throw in the fact that this teacher can't even do her job properly. Also, me flipping Brandon off was justified. I've woken him up before.

I just sat, staring at my sheet with a deep burning hatred towards math and this class, hoping that it would just vanish.

Suddenly, the bell goes off and students start crowding the doorway, trying to get out as soon as they can. High school really is like a zoo. Almost everyone in the room is out within 30 seconds, except for a few people that were also slowly following behind.

"Hey babe, call me later," my girlfriend, Cassandra says, coming up to me and giving me a quick peck on the lips. "Also, try to have fun at detention. I'm sure it'll be a blast," she says, jokingly. She's wearing leggings paired with an oversized hoodie reaching mid-thigh, with her long brown hair pulled up into a ponytail.

Her brown doe like eyes are twinkling, and I reach down and pull her into a gentle kiss, wrapping my arms around her waist. I always thought that kissing would feel way better than it does. Kissing doesn't feel anything like movies and books make it seem like it does. It just feels... weird. Almost unnatural.

"Of course," I say, watching her mouth turn up into a small grin. She laces her fingers into mine and leans her head against my shoulder.

"Hey, sorry to interrupt, but shouldn't you be going to detention?" Brandon says, smirking as he looks between the two of us.

I internally groan.

"Yeah, unfortunately." I say with a scowl on my face. Cassandra giggles, kissing me on the cheek one last time before she leaves the room.

Brandon leaves right after her, giving me a two finger salute and wishing me good luck. It was just detention, yet they both acted like I was going into something horrible. Leaving the vacant room, I turn around the corner and end up in front of the detention room.

I walk up to Mr. Smith and hand him my form before taking a seat in the back. No one else is here, oddly enough. I pull out my phone and check Instagram for a bit, before the door opens and I look up.

Leila walks into the room, grimacing. Her shoulder length blonde hair is down, and she's wearing a short black dress. She looks up at me and quickly looks away, taking a seat in the front of the nearly empty room. Ouch.

I've never actually talked to Leila, I just know that she's here often. I don't know why, though. She doesn't seem like the kind of girl to be here.

Then again, I'm not really the type of guy to be here.

Glancing down at my phone again, I entertain myself with dumb games and social media for a while until I hear someone clearing their throat.

I look up to see the one and only Cole Johnson entering the classroom. His green eyes were shining and his brown curls were lightly brushing his face. He was wearing black ripped jeans and a black tee, with a flannel over top.

He looks around the nearly empty room, smirking once he catches my eyes. He then goes to sit by Leila, and within the next few minutes they're making out.

Where the hell is Mr. Smith doing?

I peek my head up to look at his desk and see barely anything. I realize that he's fallen asleep, with his head down on his desk.

Funny that.

I start doodling on the desk, waiting for detention to be over. I could always just leave, but if Mr. Smith were to wake up I'd get in even more trouble.

I start to feel tired again, despite having a nap in the class prior. I lay my head down on the desk and I start drifting away again, letting sleep take me.

—————

I wake up to a paper ball being thrown into my face.

"Looks like sleeping beauty finally woke up," Cole says, smirking at me. I grimace at him and look at the clock. Detention was over 10 minutes ago, and Mr. Smith is still sleeping. Leila was gone, yet Cole decided to stay.

I don't know why he didn't go with Leila considering the two were almost screwing each other in this classroom earlier.

I simply roll my eyes at him, not in the mood to deal with the trouble that he always carries with him. I start to get up and make my way to the door.

"Not gonna say anything?" Cole says, placing a hand over his heart dramatically. "I'm offended."

Cole's never talked to me before, barely even sparing me a glance in the halls. I don't know why he was suddenly acting like we were friends.

I nod my head, turning on my heels and walking away, making it out of the doorway. Behind me I hear Cole's voice yet again.

"See you around, sleeping beauty!" Cole yells in a joking tone. I hear Mr. Smith telling him to go away, assuming that he woke him up from his yelling.

I make my way out to the parking lot, spotting my black Jeep. Fancy, I know.

I look back at the school doors and see Cole trailing down the steps. He takes out a cigarette and places it in his mouth, lighting it. He looks around the parking lot before turning in the opposite direction and I let out of a breath that I didn't even know I was holding.

I sit down and lay my head on the steering wheel.

Why the hell was Cole talking to me, and what does he want?
