"You're fired!" The man hollered, slamming the door.
I rolled my eyes...
"Well, cooking apparently is a definite no." I said placing my apron onto the step.
I reached into my pocket and un-crumbled a thin piece of lined paper, marking a huge 'x' through the words "Chef". The paper was full of multiple 'x' marks, varieties of jobs, and broken dreams..
"Ugh" I exclaimed, throwing my arms up in the air. "I can't even keep one job, let alone keep up with my rent!" I grunted and groaned into my hands. Deciding I was tired, I started walking home..
"Fire!" someone exclaimed darting away from the direction I was heading towards. As the person continued to sprint in the opposite direction, more people flooded the streets like a stampede. Between all the yelling and screaming, I couldn't make out what was going on.
Quickly, I tugged a woman out from the stampede and moved her aside. She was breathing heavily, her clothes were black with ash, and she kept shaking uncontrollably. "Hey, Hey!" I said shaking her. "What happened?!" I asked the panicked woman.
"Fire, down on NorthStreet! Firemen are working their way up to people in building 2-c." I loosened my grip on her out of shock, then she ran. That's my apartment building! I thought. Not thinking, my feet already started taking off in that direction.

~NorthStreet~
I ran. As if walking on air, my feet had a mind of their own. Then, suddenly a loud shriek filled the air...
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. People being carried out by men uniformed in red, bodies being hoisted up into ambulance, and children still searching for their moms that may never come back..
Andrew! I thought. Where's Andrew?! I looked around, not seeing him anywhere in sight. My heart raced, I could't find my brother anywhere. With no other thoughts in mind I raced towards the barricade, swerving past all the firemen...
I raced up to his room. I looked all around and covered my nose and mouth from the smoke, while frantically looking for him. Where are you? The fire crept its way up to my shoe, catching it aflame.
I didn't care. I just wanted the reassurance that my brother was or was going to be safe. I didn't see him in there. I sighed, relieved to know he was safe. I was about to start back to the door, then realized I was surrounded.
So this is how I end up, huh. I closed my eyes waiting for the heat and pain. As the flames trickled up my leg, I heard a voice...
"Would you like to start again?.."
