Hello and welcome to the Right Opi-i mean-welcome to my music book. The book in which I talk and review all things music. (You can request my opinions on musical things if you want ;0)

Today, I'm going to talk about The Chainsmokers.

You know, those guys that made garbage songs like Closer and a garbage album with like two good songs.

Yeah those guys.

They're making good music.

It's weird.

It's actually making me hyped for their next album.

Let me explain!

So, way back in January, they released a song by the name of Sick Boy. It looked like their usual thing except that it didn't sound like it.

Sick Boy is their criticism about the politics and culture of the US. He's pointing out how he's seen both sides, east and west. He sees the problems with both sides and that somehow he's the problem. He even goes to question his worth and the obsession with social media. All while having a nice beat with actual instrumentals. No drops at all. It's some of their finest work.

Then a month later they released You Owe Me.

Another quality song. Except it's an odd song. The video is even kind of ridiculous in the best way. You Owe Me is about the hate they get from people that's based on them as people rather than their work. It's the shitty part of being a celebrity. It's the showing that it's tearing at him.

Then they dropped Everybody Hates Me.

This has a pretty good drop. It isn't just the same notes over and over, it's actually good. This song is going deeper on that idea that media and being famous is tearing at him and he's choosing to act like he doesn't care. It also focuses on the fact that he isn't close to anyone, he can't be.

Finally, they released Somebody.

This song is kind of annoying with a blare sound used in the background but the production is good otherwise. This song is about how numb by the riches at this point. He lost himself and he realized that.

There's lore in these songs and I love it actually.

A bit of history, back in 2014, they got big off of a very special song.

Unlike the rest of the world, I didn't forget this song. I really should've. It's a terrible song. But they got big off of this. They were just normal dudes who got famous over making fun of selfies. It's an abrupt beginning of a career. They did you get progression to let their content grow until now.

These songs show that.

And I love it. And it's actual quality.

I wonder where they'll go from here.
