I wrote this one three years ago but I thought it was cute, so I decided to repost it.
The massive thunderstorm rumbled and lightning flashed, lighting up the room. Little 6 year old Sherlock was curled up into a ball in the corner. John had come over to play, but while they were playing outside it started raining. They had went inside, and Sherlock was super terrified of storms. Now he was huddled into the corner, whimpering. John was sitting on Sherlock's bed awkwardly.
There was a huge boom, making Sherlock shiver. John went over to his friend and sat with him, wrapping his arms around and hugging him. Sherlock looked up at his friend with those adorable blue eyes, and hugged back.
"Its ok," John said. "It's just a storm, it'll be over soon."
"B-but," Sherlock stuttered, "It's scary."
"I know it is... don't worry, I'll protect you."
"Protect m-me? Its j-just a st-st-storm."
"I'm here for you, though."
Sherlock studied John's face. He really was a good friend, even his mummy would tell him to "suck it up and get over it" when he would tell her he was scared of storms. John was here for him though, and he didn't make fun of him.
Another boom of thunder erupted, but this time Sherlock didn't jump. He just hugged his friend until the storm was over.

Sherlock was sitting in his grey chair in front of the fireplace. John was sitting across from him, reading the newspaper. It was storming outside, and even though Sherlock was a grown man now he was still slightly scared, though he never showed it. Nobody knew except John, and he had probably forgotten it by now.
Lightning flashed as another roll of thunder sounded, and Sherlock remembered that night many years ago. John would always be with him. He looked up to see that John was looking at him with a concerned face; he did remember! He flashed him a smile, and went to his mind palace.
John would protect him.
