"we're field buddies!" that's what I said to him in august 2017.
i joined marching that year. having no idea tyler would be there.
tyler played the trombone in high school band and marching band.
at one point we were at the same place across the field, so I yelled the previous quote to him at that time.
that was the first time I saw his smile. little did I know I would see that smile many times over.
i now wonder how many times those smiles were fake.
