Skylar's P.O.V
"So, what would you choose?"
"You can't possibly be serious!" I say to Twist, throwing my arms up in the air.
"C'mon... would you rather french kiss a guy with a snake for a tongue, or have a guy with blades for hands holding your hand?" he asks me for the second time.
"Is the snake controlled by the guy or does it have a mind of its own?"
"Hmmmm... mind of its own," he answers.
"French kiss the guy with a snake tongue. Final answer!" I say.
"That's so nasty!" Twist grimaces.
"Hey you asked. I'd also rather have two hands while in a relationship with a guy,"
"That sounds really perverted." he says, looking away.
"Oh I know. But this is what happens when you ask really fucking weird questions!"
"Okay, let's move on from this topic. Do you wanna head back to your house?" he asks.
"Sure. Can I get a piggy back ride?"
"Really?"
I give Twist a sad puppy face. He turns around and I jump on his back. "On, horsy!" I yell.
"God dammit, Sky!," he laughs and sprints down the trails towards my house. I love Twist almost like a second brother. We're around each other so often that he's the one who's normally around when my scar splits open. He knows I have half a soul, only three other people know that: my mother, father and my brother Daniel.
Twist drops me and I land on my feet with a small thud. "Really? We're like a hundred metres from my house!" I laugh.
"I think you can walk that far half-soul," he jokes.
"Awww... fuck you. Fuck you so fucking much!" I continue laughing.
"Do you really want me to carry you those hundred metres?"
"Yes." I say.
He picks me up and slings me face first over his shoulder, which lifts my ass up in the air. I then feel a sharp pain in my heart and I gasp. Twist pulls me off his shoulder and he brings us to the ground. "What happened?! Did I hurt you?" he asks.
"No, it's my heart," I say in between gasps.
A pulling pain goes through my chest. I scream and look down at my scar, a bright light glows through it but I soon starts to fade. I look again to find the ripped-open scar oozing black mucus. "Oh shit!" Twist whispers.
What feels like an eternity later, the pulling pain in my chest returns. I cry out as my flesh pulls and fuses back together. Twist grabs my hand, reassuring me to make it through this. The pain soon fades and turns into a hard throb.
Twist grabs me and pulls me close onto his chest. "It's alright..." he says. "It's over now,"
The ground may be cold, but it's a lot better to feel it than pain. When my scalar splits the pain is so severe I just want to die at that exact moment. My life would be great without this.
There are loud steps thudding down the trail. I think it's coming from about three people, the running doesn't slow down and gets closer and closer by the second. It's kind of hard to tell how close they are with Twist slowly rocking me back and forth, but it's okay because it feels kind of soothing.
It still hurts so much and I find myself crying into Twist's shirt. "Shhhhh... it'll be alright. I promise you," he whispers.
My eyes are slowly closing but I must stay awake. My eyes are open enough to see that the three people who arrive is mom, dad and Daniel. "I heard screaming and convinced everyone to come down here!" mom says. "What happened to my baby?!"
"Her scar." Twist says. "It split open again. It was oozing really bad this time and her heart was not even part normal colour,"
"Holy crap," I hear Daniel exclaim. "Again?"
"We should probably get her home," dad says.
I feel Twist stand up and carry me back down the trail towards my house. My eyes are now fluttering closed a lot quicker now than before. We enter the house and I'm placed in my bed. But that's when my vision goes black.
***
My eyes open slowly and I find myself in my room. Mom is sitting in the chair by the end of my bed, I give her a questioning look. "Where's Twist?" I ask quietly.
"He went home. We told him you would be alright. He stayed here for a few hours though," she answers.
I nod and turn my head to the wall. The light is really bugging my eyes right now. "Can you turn off the light, mom?"
"Yeah sure," she turns off the light and leaves the room. It feels nice to be alone in the dark. I check my clock, it's about midnight. My chest is still throbbing so I decide to sleep the pain away.
***
I awaken again and find another person sitting in my room. This time it's Twist. "Just couldn't resist all this?" I joke except my voice is still hoarse and weak.
"Oh yeah, totally." he answers.
"Okay, but my mom said you were here and you finally left when they kind of told you to leave. Now you're back?" I say.
"I just needed to see for myself if my best friend was alright,"
"Well thank you," I say.
"How are you?" he asks.
"I feel pretty weak. I can't find the strength inside me right now to move more than my head and my hands," I explain.
"Damn..."
"Yeah,"
Now that we're silent, I realize there's a strange rumbling noise. "Wait... what is that?" I ask.
"What is what?" Twist asks me.
"Just listen!" I whisper. "There's a rumbling!"
"You're right," he says after about thirty seconds of listening.
"It's coming from the other side of the forest..."
"That's where my family lives!"
"Maybe it nothing..." I say.
But that's when there's a panicked knock on the front door. Someone opens it and footsteps rush in, now the steps are pacing around the living room. I can't see who it is since the headboard of my bed is up against the wall with the doorway. But I guess Twist can see.
"Rosie?!" he asks.
She doesn't acknowledge Twist's call and just keeps pacing around. She starts to explain what's going on with a rushed voice. "They're here! Outsiders!"
"Okay, Rosie..." I hear dad say. "You need to just calm down for a second. Now tell me what happened,"
Rosie breathes rapidly and fearfully but she still speaks, "outsiders! They broke through the chain link fence with large machines! They tore down some trees already, we have to hide in the bunker before they find us!"
Twist stands up and walks to my doorway, "where's mom, dad and Jay?!"
"Jay and I were sent out to warn the other Creepypastas what's happening." she explains, "Mom and dad stayed behind to pack everyone some changes of clothes and since there's no food in that bunker they took all they could as well. So now I suggest you all do the same. But hurry before any of you are found!"
