Skylar's P.O.V
"C'mon, Twist! Stop foolin' around, we don't have much time!" I try to push him off but with his strength he doesn't budge.
"This is the only chance I can get now. So just, gimme a second to explain!"
I groan, "fine!" I cross my arms over my chest.
"Okay, I... I've liked you for a while now. A long while, okay? But then all this shit happened and I couldn't get the chance to say that until now," he explains.
"So you pin me to the ground just to tell me that?"
He looks away for a second, chuckling. "Y-yeah... I guess,"
"You can't have feelings like that for me, Twist. We're both smart people, I know that, you know that. This'll only end at the same road; you're gonna loose me, and I already will have enough people affected," I say.
"I know, but if I could help it, don't you think I would?!" he scolds.
"I do think you would, and I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been a bitch about it,"
"So what about you..?" he asks.
He's asking if I have the same feelings! Fuck I can't admit it! We can't become a couple, we just can't!
I stutter for a few seconds before I look up into his green eyes. "Yes... I do. But I don't want to die and break your heart when I die," what am I doing?!
He smiles and looks at me, "well that'd be alright, knowing I had you for how short or long of a time it was,"
I soon find myself in light tears and look away. "Hey, why are you crying?" he asks.
Twist pulls me to him and rocks me back and forth like he does when my scar opens up. "Shhhhhh..." he whispers to sooth me.
"I'm sorry. I don't want to hurt you, you're my best friend. It'll be worse when I die if we become lovers," I whisper between sobs.
"I know, and I'm sorry for putting this on you. But it'll be okay,"
I feel a strange sensation going through my brain and all of my nerves. My body soon completely takes over and my lips meet his. Twist puts his whole hand on the back of my head and pushes our faces closer together, grabbing my hair at the same time. It just feels like my body automatically knows what to do; I'm able to move my mouth to fit with his and we breathe at pretty much the same time.
When we part I look away, "I shouldn't have done that," I say.
"I'm sorry for going along with it," Twist says quietly.
"No, no... it's not your fault. I made the first move," I object.
"But still..."
"We should go and uhh... get the food," I say.
"Yeah," Twist breathes. "Right the food,"
Twist stands and helps me up. As we walk down the trail I notice he's limping a little bit. "Are you alright? Like did you really hurt your leg?" I ask.
"Yeah, a little bit," Twist says, laughing a bit.
"If you need a break just tell me,"
"Alright."
We reach my family's cabin and I open the door after putting my ear to it and listening for anyone inside. It's dark inside, just like we left it. I take my backpack off my shoulder and leave it on the table. We reach the cupboards quickly and un-shelve all of the canned and boxed food we can. All the food is stuffed in my backpack and Twist and myself quickly head back to the bunker.
