Kelly's POV

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I heard my alarm clock ringing and I chose to ignore it. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I heard something ring again but it was my phone that rang this time. I wanted to ignore it but my phone and my alarm clock started to ring at the same time and I couldn't take it anymore. This was torture.

I grabbed the alarm clock and was about to throw it across the room when I thought against it and I just switched it off and kept it back on my bedside table. I grabbed my phone and I didn't have to look at my phone to know who was calling. I knew it was Devin Hart, my best friend. He was the only real friend that I had. The rest were friends with me just because I was dating Jackson High's bad boy, Mathew Sanders.

I have known Devin since I was in the second grade when I dropped my favorite orange Popsicle on the floor by mistake since I was so clumsy. I started to cry because that was the only thing I had left to eat and he was the only one who came up to me and asked what was wrong.

When I told him, he told me not to cry. He told me jokes which made me laugh and he also had a Popsicle which he offered to split with me. He split it with me and he told me that he thought I was beautiful and we've been friends ever since. Devin had light brown hair and light brown eyes.

Since his father was a dentist, he always had white teeth which I am always envious of.

He was a goofy guy and he never judged me for who I am.

"Devin! You know I'm not a morning person. You just had to call" I said to him while rolling my eyes as I answered his call.

"What? I was missing my best friend. I'm sure you missed me too" he says cheerily. If he was here, I'd have smacked him in the head.

"I didn't," I tell him as I walk into the bathroom to brush my teeth. He gasped dramatically.

"You hurt my feelings," he says feigning hurt and I laugh. I loved Devin. He knew how to lift my spirits.

There was a pause from the other side of the phone and I knew what was coming. I knew exactly what he was going to ask.

"So did Matthew call last night?" he asked me. I shook my head no before I realized that he couldn't see me and I replied with a simple 'no'.

"Wait, even after you told him that you asked him to call you yesterday?" he said as if he couldn't believe what I told him. I sigh and I reply

"He didn't call me".

"Kelz, are you sure he... " he tried to say before I cut him off.

"Of course, he cares about me. He's supposed to. I'm his girlfriend" I said to him trying to reassure him. It seemed more like I was trying to reassure myself. I am his girlfriend. He should care, right?  I asked myself internally.

"Of course he does" Devin replies after some time. I don't say anything for a while.

"I have to go now, Dev. I need to prepare for school." I say hurriedly before placing my phone in between my shoulder and my jaw while I applied toothpaste on my toothbrush.

"Okay. See you at school" he says and the line goes dead.

I place my phone on the sink where it'd be safe from water and I opened the tap and I started brushing my teeth. Why didn't Matthew call? Perhaps he was busy. Again. He did tell me that he'd be going out with some friends but then again he was always going out with his friends. We never really hung out because of his 'friends'. I didn't want to spoil my mood today so I shook my head to dispel all thoughts of Matthew.
