The most effective way to kill a deviant, if you yourself are not a deviant, is through starvation. A deviant will start feeling severe pains within a day. Within two they will start losing what little sanity they have. By three or four they will probably die.

Adam hasn't eaten for almost three now. His body has been racked by the pains, but he hardly feels them. He simply lies, far away from everything, in the middle of nowhere.

He can't think of much except Amber, or what used to be Amber. He again thinks about God, with now only half cynical curiosity. The thoughts bring him a sense of hope that clashes with the opposing terror.

Adam stops thinking. His brain dozes off, and Adam's body lies.

(Adam, you're lost now. You literally have no one. You'll never see your family again, because you'd be caught. You'll never return to Gauntlet because they've disowned you. All your friends are dead, except for that annoying Brittany girl. We don't know what to say.

It's been almost a week, and we've been worried for you. We've observed thousands, but you are almost unique, how you let this girl take over your life. The grief her death is causing you is remarkable, and only seldom have we seen it paralleled.

Perhaps your heart will kill you? But no, you wouldn't go out like that. You'll find a new purpose, and you'll strive after it. You've changed a lot this last year or so, character-wise, but one thing has remained the same. You're a fighter. Stay true to this, and please, don't die. It would have been awfully dull for us without you.

We only wish you could hear this sentiment. We know you can't hear us, but we've been watching you. Now, we will part ways, because we are about to see someone new. Maybe we will loom over Brittany's fate for a bit...

Anyway, Adam, keep it real dude. We'll let a sleeping dog lie. You'll get over her, right? And buy yourself a burger or something...)
