(Hii. So the first chapter is sort of like the prologue so it's just going to be short.)
"You're moving?" Quinn choked out. It was junior year. She'd been dating Rachel Berry for almost 9 months now.
They'd been theoretically perfect for each other, in her eyes at least. They helped each other. They made the other a better person. They were in love and they were happy. Why did something have to go and ruin it? Why was the best thing in her life being taken away from her?
"I'm leaving in a week." Rachel mumbled through her tears. She'd known for a few days, she just never found a good time to tell her. She'd tried everything to convince her fathers to let her stay. Nothing worked. She had to go. She was going to be forced hundreds of miles away from the girl she loved. How was that fair?
"No. No, we can figure something out. You can move in with me and my family." Quinn knew that wasn't going to happen. Her parents didn't approve of their relationship, there's no way in hell they would let Rachel move in. Quinn wrapped her arms around the smaller girl's waist and rested her head on her shoulder as she mumbled, mostly to herself, "It's just not fucking fair."
"I know," Rachel whispered, holding the blonde close to her. "I'm sorry."
A week passed. A week that was their last together for who knows how long. Rachel tried to spend the majority of the time with Quinn, but she made sure to spend some of her last days in Ohio with her friends as well. Kurt and Tina insisted on a shopping trio before Rachel's departure. Santana and Brittany had invited both Quinn and Rachel to spend a night at the Latina's house.
The day was here. Most of the small family's belongings were already packed away in the truck. The two girls watched as Rachel's fathers brought out the final few boxes.
"So this is really it," Rachel sighed, turning her head to look at the taller girl as tears formed in her eyes.
Quinn shook her head before looking at the brunette. "No, it isn't. We'll still talk everyday, and we'll see each other again soon." She gave the smaller girl a reassuring smile, even though she didn't know herself if what she'd said was true. "We'll be okay." She mumbled, not sure which of them she was trying to convince.
Not long after, the truck was completely packed. Rachel's fathers were waiting patiently in the car for the two girls to finish their goodbyes.
They didn't say anything for a minute. They just looked at each other in silence. Rachel was the first to break it, "Quinn, I.. I love you. Please, don't forget that."
"Never," Quinn mumbled before she leaned down, molding her lips to Rachel's. "I'm going to miss you so much." She whispered against the brunette's lips.
Rachel took a step back, getting closer to the car. "I can't.. I can't say goodbye to you. Just, I'll see you soon."
Quinn's lips curled up into a small, sad smile. "You better get going, you don't want to keep them waiting forever." Rachel looked down and opened the car door as tears spilled over her cheeks. The blonde watched as she slowly climbed into the car, mumbling to herself, "I'll see you soon."
Once Rachel had closed the car door, she turned, looking at Quinn through the back window. The blonde blew her a kiss as she waved behind the glass, the car slowly pulling away.
Quinn stayed. She just sat in Rachel's old yard. She wasn't sure why. Was she waiting for her to come back already? She scoffed at the thought and looked down at her watch. It'd been two hours since Rachel had gone. The blonde stood and gave one last look at the house before she walked away. She'd walked to Rachel's house with her, so she had to walk home.
She couldn't cry. She couldn't feel anything. She felt numb, like this was all a dream. Like she'd wake up tomorrow and Rachel would still be there. "But she won't," She whispered to herself as she walked up the few stairs to her front door.
Quinn sat in her bed, phone in hand, going through every picture they'd taken together. Nothing was going to be the same, she knew that. Glee club is going to be the hardest to adapt to for her. She won't walk up to Rachel's locker every morning. She won't sit with her in home room.
She could only hope that they'd talk everyday. What if Rachel didn't want that? What if Rachel would move on? Quinn started to type out a message to Rachel. She sat there, typing and deleting, for nearly an hour. Nothing seemed to be right to say. She ended up sending a simple, "I love you." before setting her phone on her nightstand. She pulled her covers up and stared up at the ceiling as tears rolled down her cheeks for the first time that day.
