"Alec?" I rise up onto my feet and take in the morning air. The wind softly blows my hair across my face tickling it ever so slightly. I turn around to face the river and grab my towel.

Nothing like a morning swim.

Normally we wouldn't be outside of camp for this long. Not because we didn't want to, but because we weren't allowed to. Usually I would have to sneak out with Alec to even take a walk outside of camp. I understand why they kept us from leaving, but for the people that could take care of themselves shouldn't be locked away from the real world. Or at least the fake one. We couldn't go back to our real world. At least not yet.

Even if we did scope out our new surroundings, I'm not too sure they would let us roam free. Not after what happened last time. Ever since the first group came down and...changed, they kept people away from them.

"Aelin?" I faintly hear my name from the distance. Down by the water? "Is that you?"

I quicken my pace, "Yeah, how'd you sleep?"

I reach the banks and set my towle on a nearby branch. I look to my left and find Alec drawing in the sand with a stick. "Okay, when do we have to go back."

I shake my head slightly. "I really wish we didn't have to. I do. But you know what will happen if we get caught out here."

"I know, but when do we have to go back." Alec looks up at me. Same wimpy puppy eyes that always draw me in. Ever since he's been able to master them, he's got his way. He doesn't know what happened to Mom and Dad and I want to keep it that way. I want him to have the childhood I never had. Something he can at least try to enjoy.

I sit down next to him and say, "Whe can stay out here a little longer. We can go fro swim and go back, so roughly around thirty minutes. Okay?" I turn to him for reassurance.

"Okay!" He stands up and throws his drawing stick behind him. He runs to his towel and throws off his shirt placeing it on the same branch.

"You coming?" I turns to me before running to one of the boulders lineing the water.

"Yeah. Of corse." I slowly peel my clothes off my skin watching Alec take his first jump off the rocks.

If only things could stay like this. Peaceful. No worry about the future. No worry if we'd get caught. Sent to the pit, or killed.

*Comment if I should continue, I dint really like how it's going key alone the prompt so I think I'm going to restart*
