These last few days I’ve been sitting in my room, I couldn’t believe she was dead, she was like my only friend, I flicked through the TV channels until I couldn’t be bothered any more. I sat back and listened to the news, I know… boring…
“Now onto the story on Zuse, he used to be one of New York’s best scientists until he tried smuggling a vile of ‘viruses’ out of the city. It was dropped at pen station, making him drop dead a week ago; five nights ago he woke up. No longer human, now a shape shifting weapon…”
I rolled my eyes; did they sonorously expect people to believe this? But as she talked they were showing videos of the man throwing things around, it even showed him throw someone at a helicopter. It then came up with a list of people he may have killed. Only one name stood out above the rest; Brie Neverwest, I felt my eyes began to water. I walked home with the man who killed my best friend!
“Alice…” My mum called from the other side of the door. “Honey it’s a lovely day why don’t you walk the dog?”
“Okay mum, whatever you want.” I sighed as I stood up.
Maybe walking the dog will get my mind off things.
Normally Ember isn’t afraid of anything, and I mean anything but for some reason she dint want to walk where we normally walked. I tugged her lead but she just tried walking backwards.
“Fine!” I spat. “Go walk your fucking self!” I dropped her lead and she ran in the other direction. “Dum ass dog!” I yelled and turned around. Then I knew why she was running. About three meters away was ‘Zeus’. He was slowly approaching.
“Did you do it?” I asked. “And be honest, please.”
“Do what?” he muttered as he stood closer than people normally do.
“Did you…” my god he smelt amazing! “kill my friend last night.”
He frowned slightly, “you’re asking me, if I killed someone?”
I nodded and his grimace faded slightly.
“Did she have short blond hair?” he asked.
Again I nodded and he shook his head.
“No, I didn’t, but I was there.” He reassured me
I looked down slightly. “And you couldn’t do anything?”
“I killed the person responsible.” He said.
I looked up as he said this. “How can you say that so easily!?”
No response. I let out a sigh.
“I appreciate you being honest… thank you…” I muttered and went to turn away.
“You know, you’re not as bad as they say… you’re just… misunderstood.” I muttered before trying walking off, but he grabbed my arm and turned me around.
“What do you mean by that?”
“Well people call you all soughts, a monster, a killer, a terrorist…”
“I’m all of these things.” He muttered.
“Only because that’s what they expect of you! They even have you thinking it, if you were such a bad person why aren’t I dead, why didn’t you kill me last night, you are not a monster.” I smiled.
“Not a monster!?” he halve yelled as his arms turned into giant claws.
“Take a fucking look at me! Can anyone else, in this universe, do this!? I’m a fucking lost course!?
I smiled, “That’s what makes you special, being different isn’t a bad thing.”
He gave me a weird look and I let out a sigh.
“Look, they obviously brain washed you, but you won’t brain wash me.” I said and left him standing in the ally.
I dint care what anyone thinks of me, I have my own opinion.
“Alice, the dog came running back five minutes ago,”
“I doped her leash.” This is true I can’t say it’s a lie.
“Okay then?”
“Mum, I was fine.”
“Well, are you hungry?”
“I’m find mum.” I sighed as I went to the tap and filled a cup of water.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Go for it.” I muttered as I started drinking it.
“Are you a lesbian?” she asked.
I spat my water out in a cloud of mist. “What! Why would you ask that!?”
“Well you’ve, never had a boyfriend so I just thought…”
“There’s a difference between being a lesbian and not having anyone like you ok!?” I muttered. “Not that there’s anything wrong with lesbians, but I’m not one, okay?”
“Okay, I was just worried.”
“Well at least it was better then you thinking I was pregnant. I really miss my baggy jumpers.”
I said as I started walking up stairs.
Man I hated my mum sometimes…
