I rolled over and pushed my toes to the cooler part of the bed. Then I remembered ' shit it's Friday ' I shoved off the covers.
And set my feet on the cold wooden floor, and ran into my walk-in closet. I yanked a black tank top off it's hanger.
I went over to my dresser and took out a bra, clean underwear, a pair of socks, and some random ripped jeans. I threw off my over sized t-shirt and put on my clothes. I tugged on my beat up red combat boots that waited for me beside my bedroom door.
I rushed down the stairs out the door and into the streets.
I sighed when I reached the tall abandoned building then, ran up the steps. I remembered to skip over the last step. It is loose and unstable wooden board that couldn't hold up anything. Me and my and my friends call it the ' drunk step. '
I reached the roof just a the sun was coming up over the city. I close my eyes and soak up the warmth like a flower that had not seen light in days. I guess that is a pretty good description of me. I don't see the sun a lot even though I have tan skin. Almost everyone in my tribe is pale unless it's because of their race.
I open my eyes. I stare at the horizon then look down a little bit. I saw the Aireoki there couple about 22 on a bridge, holding hands. I saw 3 kids playing tag and 4 older ones laughing
But it was the laughter I heard behind me that shook me out of my thoughts.
"Aiyanna," someone called, I grinned and turned around.
"Nalaya, Jack," I said. "What took you took you guys so long,"
"Not every one has fast legs," said Nalaya.
"Or the ability to wake up at 4:15 in the morning," Jack said as they walked over to me. Me and Nalaya laughed.
"We have to wake up that early to go to so we can get to school," I retort "Plus," I said with a smile "it's not my fault y'all are slow,"
" Just like it's not our fault you're short," shot back Nalaya
"And like it's not my fault I'm so deviously handsome," Jack added.
"Yeah right," I snorted. Nalaya laughed. Jack smiled. It was silent, but a good silent. Then silence was interrupted by voices and footsteps.
A group of about 6 guys and 2 girls walked. "How the hell did they find us?" complained Nalaya under her breath to me.
"Go away Jason," said Nalaya to a guy with blond hair and blue eyes. He was tall with big muscles.
The guy, 'Jason' grinned "Sup Nalaya," she rolled eyes.
"She said go away," I growled. He turned towards me and looked me up and down. I glared so hard I thought I was going to peel his skin. I wish I did.
"Who's your friend?" he asked Nalaya not takes his eyes off me.
"Do I need to spell it out for you asshole 'Go away' " I said slowly.
"Jason this Aiyanna," said Nalaya.
Jason and two other boys started walking towards me. I felt like the prey and the predators were walking towards me. I didn't step forwards or backwards, I kept my feet planted on the roof.
He was way to close. I could his breath on my eyelashes. He looked down at first I was confused but then I understood what he was looking at. "Get your eyeballs somewhere else bitch," If I had known he was going to be here I would have wore something more concealing than a tank top, that showed way to much cleavage and ripped jeans with holes the size of my hand.
"I'm having having a party if y'all want to come."
"I'm NOT going within a mile of your bedroom,"I snapped. "You have a line of girls right over there, but stay away from me and my friends,"
Clearly seeing I was much harder to catch than he thought and that Nalaya wasn't going anywhere without me, he stepped back but, that dumb smile didn't leave his face. Will this guy ever give up?
"Mom is going to kill you," said Jack I almost forgot he was there. I looked from him to Jason. They had the sane blond hair and blue eyes. I realized they were brothers.
"Only if she finds out," Jason turned to us. "So you coming? I could pick you wanted to," he wiggled his eyebrows.
"I wouldn't ride in your car if I needed to get across town tonight," I snapped. He shrugged.
"But, we will come," Nalaya put in quickly.
"WHAT!" I said. I turned to Jack he looked relieved. Oh, she was doing this for him.
"Fine," I grumbled and rolled my eyes.
"Cool, see you later," I turned around when I thought they were leaving something hit my butt with a smack.
I spun back around. One of them was grinning.
