Disconnected

To be connected means to bring together or into contact so that a real or notional link is established. It also means to join together so as to provide access and communication.

But many people have no connection whatsoever to the real world. They're always in their own alternate universe where they have nothing to be concerned with. In logical terms, they're disconnected from everyone.

To be disconnected means having a connection broken. Of a person, it means lacking contact with reality.

I believe that there's always a reason that someone has become disconnected. Whether it be a childhood memory that traumatized them or just their thoughts taking over, everyone has their own reason.

I've met a man who wears a smile on his face every waking day, has plenty of friends, and seems to have no struggles with family life. Yet, he still seems to be the most disconnected person I've laid eyes on. He's a mystery that I've yet to solve

and that's exactly how he likes it.
