You woke up at 9:00. It was a warm sunny day. You heard Fandroid's cheerful comments in the other room. He seemed happy. You smiled at the thought of him being happy.
But I don't feel that way of myself...
You thought about yourself and grimaced.
How does the droid support himself with a friend like me?!
You started to sit up, slowly but surely. With no reason to wake up, you rolled out of bed.
You got your (Favorite Band) hoodie on and some (Fave Color) shorts. A crappy outfit for a crappy person. This internal monologue had haunted you since middle school. You were in high school, and because your father worked at ADHOC, it was his job to house half of the "Musical Robot" experiment over the summer.
AND OF THE TWO ROBOTS. IT HAD TO BE FANDROID!
You've been a Fan of his videos for the year he had existed on the Internet. But along with depression, you suffered anxiety. You couldn't communicate with people other than your dad if it meant life. And to make matters worse, you developed a crush.
You stumbled to the kitchen, glancing out the window. You had no sight of your dad's pickup truck.
Must be at his other job.
Being an ADHOC scientist doesn't pay bills all that well. So on his days off, he worked at the library. Typical. You poured yourself some cereal and a glass of water and was gonna shuffle upstairs but...
"Hi (Y/N)!" you heard a familiar voice call out.
You panicked and stumbled back, cereal and water all over you.
I can't believe you messed up so bad. And he just wanted to say hi! How PATHETIC. The voice beckoned.
Your anxiety only got worse the more you thought of it.
"Are you ok?" Fandroid chirped, helping you up.
Unfortunately, you stepped on a puddle of water, and slid foward.
OH GOD WHYYYYYYYYYY! You screamed in your mind.
You knocked into the robot, knocking him down, you on top of him. He was as shook as you were. And you could hardly breathe.
"Woah...hehe...this is extremely awkward..." he stuttered.
And of course he has to be cute....WHY THE CUTE?!
"Nothing" you said.
"What do you-" he started. But you just stood up and bolted to your room. Slamming the door and curling in bed. (Just like me at the end of the school year)
You started thinking, not scared of what the voices had to offer to you.
I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU (Y/N)!!!
YOU CANNOT HANDLE A SINGLE CONVERSATION!
WHAT WAS THE POINT IN WAKING UP?!
"Y/N?"
YOU SHOULDN'T BE ALIVE.
YOU STUPID MORON!
YOU ARE A FAILURE!
"Y/N."
JUST SUCCUMB TO US.
WE CAN HELP YOU.
TRUST. US.
T R U S T.
M E.
"Y/N!!!"
The shrill childlike voice snapped you into reality. His big blue eyes filled with concern.
"You ok?" Fandroid whispered.
"Y-yes" You stuttered, lying was easy for you, especially with problems like that.
He traced a claw across your cheeks, you didn't even notice you were crying.
Were the voices that strong???
Fandroid examined the tears closely. "I know it's not normal for humans to cry abruptly with no reason whatsoever." He said matter-of-factly.
"Just. None of your business." You were pushing the robot away, metaphorically.
"You know..." the robot moved himself as if he were sitting on the bed, next to you, but he couldn't exactly because of his wheel. "...you could talk about it."
"Why should I?! I just might turn you against me!" You snapped.
"Y/N. I would never turn against you!" He sighed, arm around your shoulder
You poured your heart to this guy. You've never vented for so long, it felt good to let all of the pain out, though...you were kind of scared if you spoke too long.
Once you finished Fandroid spoke up, "And you LET yourself get destroyed by your thoughts?"
You quivered, "I am stuck in a mindset where I see myself as a burden against humanity..."
Fandroid gasped, his eyes filled with pity.
"But you are not a burden!" He retorted.
"I spilled water, milk, and cereal on myself. Just because you spoke to me this morning!" You shouted.
"It was an accident." Fandroid tried to soothe you with a calm tone.
"WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT EMOTION?! YOU AREN'T HUMAN!" You exploded.
You covered your mouth in shock and the robot's gaze turned foward, avoiding yours.
"F-Fandroid I didn't-"
You were cut off when Fandroid held your head between his claws and pulled you to his level, then pressing his face against yours. You realized what he was trying to do. And reluctantly, you kissed back.
You pulled apart and Fandroid shrugged.
"I'd say I knew a lot about emotions!" He chuckled.
You hugged him, thanking him for making you feel better.
He hugged back.
Over his shoulder you noticed the door open a crack....and you squinted into the dark.
Your dad was home to watch the whole thing.
