"Hehehehehe" I heard the high pitched voice of my friend Mercy. "So Luna, who's your crush?" Ella asked me. "Luna? Luna!" "Oh um..." "Who's your crush? Who do you like?" "No one" I said with my head down, as if I wanted to hide. "Oh come on" Josie complained "we all admitted who we like, now it's your turn." I looked up. "No one." Then I looked back down, again.
"We know you like someone, just tell us already!!!!!" Josie begged. "Fine, Sebastian" I blurted out, and immediately looked down. Truth is I hate Sebastian, I only said it because that's who Josie likes. Before anyone said anything I stood up and walked away. Josie could be a little harsh sometimes. Well more like all the time.
I ran to the closest private place I could find. I was in a house with 6 other girls, not much privacy in my opinion.
If you were an outsider looking at my group of friends, you would probably think Whitney would be the most distant of all of us. Believe it or not, I'm the most distant person. There's just some reason where I don't feel like I fit in, I don't know what that reason is. It feels like I have a lot of things I need you learn about myself, than the other girls do. I see myself as a different person, than what society suggests I should be. I don't know what to do about it.
Josie put a lot of pressure on me to say my crush. I was telling the truth, I don't have one. I don't like any of the guys. They're idiots, and I don't know why people like them.
"Luna?" I heard a knock on the door. "Luna can I come in?" I heard the sweet voice of Ella ask. I've known Ella since kindergarten, and trust her with my life. I got off the toilet and opened the door for her.
"Hey, you didn't have to say your crush out there." "Josie wouldn't stop bugging me. She never was going to stop until I said someone." I began to cry. That's what I needed right now. To let go of all the tears building up inside me, and let them pour out, into puddles. "Josie can be a bit harsh sometimes. We all know that." Ella reassured me. I felt her arms wrap around me, which was very comforting.
"I don't feel the same about boys as the rest of you do. I don't find them hot, or cute. I just think they're all dumb, and a waste of time." I admitted to Ella. "I know, I know. You'll be okay. Somehow we will find a way to deal with Josie, and things will be okay again." She told me in her soft, sweet voice.
"Maybe you don't like guys. That's okay. As long as you're happy and love yourself, who you love doesn't matter." I was given the delicate look from Ella's loving hazel eyes. "Whatever you like, I like. I'll support you no matter what. You know that." She promised.
"Hey do you wanna go home, and we can do this just you and me sometime?" Ella asked before she left to see the others. "Yeah" I looked down at the floor. "You'll be okay. It'll all work out in the end." She hugged me one last time before leaving.
I used this time in the bathroom to clean myself up a bit, from what had just happened. I splashed some water in my face and dabbed a towel over it to dry. I held myself up, with all my weight on the hands, resting on the counter, staring at the image in the mirror. I looked straight into the eye's of that image, and told it "Find yourself."
*knock*
"Hey, it's Leontyne. I just have your phone for you. Ella told me to bring it up." I slowly opened the door. "Thanks I mumbled a bit. "Hey anytime you need to talk, I'll listen." Leontyne told me before she left. She also has her traditional day brightening smile, to encourage you to do your best.
Leontyne was a good friend. She cared about others more than she cared about herself, but before coming here, she had a rough life in France that gave her a whole different perspective on things, than what the rest of us see.
I opened my phone and dialled my grandma's number. Both my parents were working, so my brothers and I were left with my grandmother all day, because my older brother and I weren't going to be home. My parents also took this opportunity to leave work, not come home, and go on a vacation for the weekend, all on their own.
"Hello." "Hi grandma, it's Luna. Can you pick me up from Ella's house right now please." "Why dear is something wrong?" She asked, concerned. "I don't feel very well." I lied. "I'll be there in a few minutes sweetheart, stay put." "Okay, thank you grandma, bye." I hung up.
