(Y/N)'s POV

I woke up wanting to go back to sleep (as usual), it's just because I wanna start the day with at least some peace and quiet. Obviously that's not gonna be happening any day now, especially if you're at a shitty camp like Camp Campbell.

I sighed and got up, getting myself ready to change clothes, grabbing a pair of gym shorts and a (f/c) shirt, and wrapped my (f/c) hoodie around my waist. I then put on my shoes and stepped out of my tent to see if any campers are out already.

They sure are.

The first two people that caught my eye were the inseparable duo - Nikki and Neil. I walked towards their direction, assuming that they're doing something science-y with a mix of nature. Duh, that's what they're known for - nature-loving and science. Or just something stupid. But I did notice, something- or someone isn't here with them like he always would be. I blinked and shook my head, waving at the two. They waved back with smiles on their faces.

"Hey, Nikki. Hey, Neil." I smiled back, getting in between them. "What 'cha guys up to?" I quirked a brow, looking over at Nikki holding a container. "Oh, nothing, just found this pudding laying on the floor!" She replied, playing with the said container in her hands. "It's either pudding, or some random animal shit." Neil retorted, huffing as he crossed his arms with a grin.

"Huh, well.. What are you up to then.. Neil Nye the Science Guy?" I then faced Neil. "Ehm, not much. Just learning about the Periodic Table, I can actually sing the whole song too-!" He proudly said, lightly tapping his chest. I giggled before replying, "That's cool! By the way, where's Max-?"

Oops, didn't mean to ask- but I did feel like I should be concer- Ahaha, (Y/N). Can't be concerned about some grouchy, short kid who doesn't even feel the same thing back. No, no, n-

"Hey, fuckers." Speak of the devil.

It's Max - duh. He grumbled as he lowered his head a little. Something seems.. Off, about him. He rubbed his nose with his hoodie's sleeve, hearing sniffles along the way every few minutes. His cheeks were tainted red a little, too. Also, I did hear some rumors that he- Max himself, had feelings for me. I was, shook. But how can I tell? He's always a little rascal in his own ways, although I do find him cute- wait.

"Well hello to you too, Max." I did an impression of him, by lowering my shoulders and rolling my eyes, though my smile never had its way to fade.

"Not now for your stupid, lame jokes. I feel really shitty today." He spat. "I have a fever..." He murmured. "Eh, that's- that's interesting. M-Maybe get somebody to baby you the rest of the day so ya won't stress yourself." Neil suggested him. Me and Nikki just blinked in the background, like we weren't even there.

"What? 'Baby' me? FUCK NO. David and Gwen are bad, try-hard 'parents'."

"Who said it had to be them?" Neil smirked, his eyebrows lifting as Max couldn't find a way to respond. "... Then who would it be?"

"Ah, I don't know.. Maybe someone nice, someone that's actually caring for people, someo-"

"LIKE (Y/N)!" Nikki yelled as she shoved me in between the two boys. Neil and Max looked at each other again after looking at Nikki, quite dumbfounded. Neil nodded as Max's brows furrowed. "Still, the thought of being babied. It's- horrifying." He just grumbled, facing defeat.

"Well, there's no camper like (Y/N)-"

"Heyyyy, how about some rest and cool off for the rest of the day, champ?" I raised my voice, trying to sound as calm as can be so they won't continue this arguing as I rest my hands on his shoulders gently, ignoring the fact that we were close - expecting Max to tell me to take 'em off or just don't touch him and fuck off.

Max just nodded with a sigh of relief, his cheeks turning a little more red than they used to be a while back. Out of nowhere, I decided to rest the palm of my hand on his forehead to check on his temperature. Max just blinked as he rolled his eyes, perfectly okay with this as he pouted. I find it adorable. His temperature seems a little high, since he was warm and was slowly starting to sweat.

"Come on, lets go to some place a little colder and not as hot as the outdoors." I slowly throw my arm around him as we walked away from Nikki and Neil, waving bye. We went towards the Mess Hall, giving Max some time to sit and rest as I fetch two bottles of water for the both of us.

I come back sitting down right beside him as I offered him his bottle. He nodded, "Thanks.." He mumbled. I just nodded, smiling. His soft side was showing, that's nice. He opened his bottle and drank for a short while, I noticed he was sweating now due to his temperature.

"Agh, it's still hot as fuck.."

"That's 'cause you have your hoodie on. As always anyway. It's fine to take them off." I replied, crossing my arms as I lean back on the table.

"I- hoodie- off- I- you-" He's now a tomato. I just nodded, and told him to take it off since I didn't mind. He nodded as well, taking his hoodie off in front of me. I watched him as if he didn't know I was, as soon as he looked at me, I were already looking away, trying not to be obvious. But I guess he did know..

Out of nowhere, again..

"H-Hey, (Y/N)..?" He blinked, I did the same, since I haven't heard him call you by your name for quite a while. "Yeah?" I turn my head to look at him, gazing at those beautiful turquoise eyes of his. "Can you.. Sleep with me in my tent while I have a bad fever? I-I mean, it's pretty fucking weird if I ask you that, but I would like some company..."

Wait. Sleep. With Max? Max, the kid that likes to be an ass as if it was his habit. Woah- can't believe he's actually out-of-character today.

"S-Sure, why not.. I mean, I don't want to leave you alone too since you needed someone to take care of you. I-" I was cut off with Max grabbing me by the shoulders, making me face him and being pulled into a small, quick kiss. It was only like a peck on the lips.

".. Thanks." He whispered. I was a hot, red mess. I was internally screaming.

"But seriously though, you didn't have t- Mmf-!" And then he was cut off with another kiss. This time I showered him with them. He laughed faintly for the most part. Hallelujah, he laughed - something anybody's barely heard him do.

"Yeah, yeah. Well I wanted to 'cause, I want you safe." I then put my hands on top of his. "I love you, that's why."

"Yeah.. Love, yeah, okay. But kissing a sick person-, you're gonna be sick too."

"It's fucking worth it." I shrugged - being sick can actually excuse you from doing camp activities. "Hey, you up for some chips and some Ben and Jerry's ice cream and sitting by the pond tonight too?"

"Hell yeah!"

"Alright, then let's head our way to your tent, I guess, if you want."

"Yeah sure. And by the way..

I love you too."
