the list

joey birlem and his friends were the typical popular boy group. some were heartbreakers, and most just couldn't settle for one girl.
clearly relationships did not mean much to these juniors, because at the beginning of the year they decided to have a list.
a list that included names, names of girls in which the boys had to date. whoever took the most out - and dumped - by the end of junior year won. won what you ask? the one thing many guys care about most: their reputation, along with three hundred dollars. rules? no falling in love.
they only would take the popular girls of course, anyone less would ruin their social status.
yes, that was how much of douches these boys were, but they didn't care. they could do anything they wanted, and girls would still be constantly gushing over them.

but what happens when the last girl on joey's list is maddie ziegler?
maddie ziegler was the sweetest out of all her friends. that wasn't too hard considering she was best friends with lilia buckingham and kalani hilliker; but she was still one of the most genuine girls you could meet. they were the three popular girls in school. lilia considered maddie second to her, but most people preferred maddie.
it almost seemed as if joey purposely chose maddie as last on the list. she was the hardest to get, especially considering how joey dipped on lilia a few months ago, and after that maddie and all of her friends were forbidden to go out with him, although some still did, and you can only guess what lilia did about it.
but besides that, she would also be the hardest to dump. joey and maddie were good friends freshman year and he enjoyed their friendship. he wasn't one to catch feelings but he was not looking forward to butchering their chances completely. maddie was the sweetest girl in his eyes and he could not imagine breaking her heart, no matter how much of a douche he was.

was maddie worth it? junior year was coming to an end. for joey, time was ticking, and he had yet to figure that out.
