Lunch was probably the best part of the day, well, for anyone in 8th grade really. I sat in the back of the cafeteria, by the theatre entrance and stage. It was usually just me and Emily, but we occasionally had other people sit with us. Sometimes... But it was fine with just me and Emily, we could talk about anything. I also really liked where I sat because i could see Charlette...

"Hey!" Emily said, loud enough to snap me out of my day dream as she slammed her tray down on the table. "Haha what'cha thinkin' 'bout Mr. Lady's Man?" Emily smirked at me from acros the table and i just slightly punched her in the arm. "Ow! Oh the pain! call an ambulance, take me to the nurse! Something is broken!" she starts to dramatically fall to the floor and we both burst out laughing, soon to get a stern look from the lunch monitor.

"So, tonight." I state and Emily automatically calms down.

"Yes, ummm... I think my mom will let me come over, i mean, she always does. But my dad might want me to help him with moving his junk..." She trails off and i gently pat her arm. Her parents divorce was hard on her, being an only child, it was hard for her to deal with it alone.

"Don't worry," I say, "I'll get you to my house." I wink at her and we both laugh again.

Near the end of lunch, I look up and am able to see Charlette perfectly. I watch her talking to all her perfect popular friends, some of thems guys, and wishing that was me. I guess she sees me looking at her because she smiles at me and waves. My eyes widen and i just give a shy wave back and look down at my plate.

"oh great. Charlette..." Emily says and she rolls her eyes at me punching me lightly on the shoulder. "why dont you just aske her out?!"

"Emily!" i say, starting to whisper, looking up to see if anyone heard, "You know why! You know I'm shy and she's the most popular girl in school and I'm... me..." i say, looking down at the ground.

"Shut up don't say that! You should just ask her out and see how it goes! If she says yes and you both really like eachother the, happily ever after. If she says yes and you don't really like eachother, then break it off and wait a while longer for someone better. If she says no, shes stupid. You're an amazing guy!" Emily looks at me with a mixture of annoyance and kindness as the bell rings. I smile slightly and we head to our 5th period classes.
