Im gonna share some stories about my friends
For privacy reasons, i will change names.
Friend one will be referred to as Tiffany.
Friend two will be referred to as Julie.
Friend three will be Jean.
Friend four, Rose.
Really the first friend to come out to me was Tiffany. And its one of my favorites.
We were sitting in choir with a substitute, so it was a study hall. Beginning of 8th grade i think. We were talking about whatever came to mind- music, art, people in our grade, the upcoming Panic!at the Disco concert we ended up going to together. Just whatever it took to pass the time.
Suddenly she looks at herself in the floor to celing mirrors on the front wall behind the piano. With the arched organization of the chairs and piano blocking my vision i couldn't tell what exactly she was looking at. But then she spoke.
"God, i can never sit up straight. I wonder why... oh yeah cause im not staight. Im pan."
As it was my first time having someone come out to me, i remember it very particularly.
My other friend, Julie, came out in a somewhat similar random way. "I like pans. Im pansexual." Simple, but funny. The next year she ended up changing her identity to Bisexual. And we spent our free time in choir study halls looking at gay memes. Good times.
Julie ended up having a crush on Tiffany. Unfortunately, she moved away before she could confess her feelings.
Jean i met in 8th grade art club. Shes in the grade below, and we ended up doing drama club together as well. Funniest thing is, the reason we started talking was because she played Girls/Girls/Boys during art club. I of course sprang up and started singing along.
Instant friends.
From the start she was open about her bisexuality. She also got me into musicals, so thanks for that broadening of my trashness.
Now onto Rose. Really the first other identifying Athiest i befriended. She transferred from a Catholic private school-belive it or not-because it only goes through 8th grade. I remember freshman orientation seeing her in the hallway wearing a Pierce the Veil shirt and wanting to comment on it but being too socially awkward to walk up to someone i didnt know. We became friends through a mutual friend.
I found out she was bisexual when she asked about a girl in my choir- it was an all girls choir btw- and if i could get her number for her. Relationship itself didnt work out but they're still friends and theyre both happy. Thats all that matters. Right?
