Aria. P.O.V
I looked at the old building crinkling my nose when I noticed the sign above the door peeling off. This is my new home I thought as I entered Angel’s orphanages for girls. When I opened the door I hear a ring of a bell, I looked up and saw one hanging above the door to help signal when people walked in. I was greeted by a lady with long greying hair, she had smile lines on the side of her face and wore a smile on her face, “Hello dear you must be aria” She said as she stuck her hand out for me to shake, “My names Angeline the owner of this place but you can just call me aunty angie” she told me while smiling I just nodded not wanting to talk, it wasn’t like I was going to be here long anyway. She then moved out the way and yelled out a girl’s name “Sophie, get down here your new roommates she said making me jump a bit, “Coming” a voice yelled, I then heard the sounds of someone’s feet running down the stairs. Jumping the last step the girl sent me a smile, she had long thick brown hair and brown eyes, “Hi, you must be Aria I’m Sophie, come on I’ll show you to our room” she said turning around not waiting for me. ‘’Your other roommates name is Maria, she came in about 2 months ago only remembering her first name, it was weird no one advertised a missing kid at all we even checked milk cartons” Sophie explained as she carried on walking. “Did you put a add out for her?” I asked, “Nah, she said that she didn’t mind staying here, I think she’s a runaway” Sophie told me stopping at a door that had the number 13 on it “here we are” She told me and then walked off into another room, I just awkwardly walked into the room not knowing what else to do.
When I walked into the room and I heard screaming, walking over to the noise I stood over a girl with brown hair she was thrashing about in her bed. I reached out and tried shaking her awake when I noticed that she was having a nightmare. She woke up and looked at me with horror, the only thing I could see in her blue eyes that hele fear. I was greeted with a punch in the nose "who the fuck are you!?" She screamed as she pulled the blanket closer to her. I went to open my mouth but it wasn't my voice that came out it was Sophie's the girl I met earlier who also happens to be my roommate "I see you guys have met" chuckled Sophie I just glared at Sophie hoping she would shut up "I would say it was nice to meet her but I would be lying" I glanced around the dull, plain room only three beds and three dressers one bed was completely bare I guessed that was mine I shoves my suitcase under the bed not bothering to unpack knowing I wouldn't be staying for long since this was my fourth orphanage this year. "What do you guys do around here?" I questioned. It was Sophie who spoke "Maria likes to fight" Sophie says. Maria raised her hands in her defence "it’s not my fault I have a low bullshit tolerance" she smirked. "But lucky for you today is our post day" Sophie says sarcastically.
We walked down the road, not bothering to make much conversation since it was too hot. All of a sudden Maria picked up her pace and kept looking behind her. I looked behind me as well and saw a tall, lanky man watching Maria's every move. Something about him made me shiver. "Hurry up guys" she told us, we tried to match her pace but she kept walking faster and faster. I looked behind me and notice that the man started walking fast, he then broke out into a full sprint and started chasing us trying to catch up. "Run" Maria yelled as she grabbed our hands making us run with her back to the orphanage. I had no idea what was going on by the time we reached the orphanage I tried to question her about but Maria was in too much of a rush shoving things into her bag to stop and talk to us. There was a knock on the door Angeline the owner of the orphanage came in "Maria sweetie there is a man downstairs asking for you" "um I will be there in a minute" says Maria. Angeline leaves with a nod and Maria started shoving clothes in her bag again. She walks over and forces the old window open "coming?" she asks Sophie and I, we both stare at her blankly not knowing what to say I finally manage to stammer out "uh where?" "Away from him" is all Maria says. Sophie and I still stand there not knowing what to do "If you don't come he will kill you too, he's after me and he won’t hesitate to kill you too," Maria says as if it’s a fact. There was a knock on the door "Maria honey I know you’re in there" says a man voice Sophie and I stare at Maria her face has paled and she looked like she was about to throw up. "Hurry" is all she whispers to us, we ran to the window I was the last to get out as soon as I was through there was a loud crash behind me I looked back in horror and saw the man who was following us earlier. I look around the roof not being able to see Sophie or Maria "hurry up" I hear Maria yell from the ground I run over to the edge of the roof and look down and notice Sophie and Maria waiting for me. "Jump" they say together, and that’s what I do.
