Twelve hours and three Monsters later, I knew it was time to find a place to stay for the night. I found this old-timey family owned b&b called Granger's. The last name sounded familiar for some reason, though I couldn't put my finger on as to why at the time.
The place was surprisingly well kept and was run by this middle-aged couple, the Granger's. They also had a daughter who helped take care of the place during the summer. Brilliant, she was. If I'm not mistaken, her parents referred to her once as "the brightest in her class." I could never get her name quite right; it was such a unique and unusual name.
After they showed me to my room, I just layed on the bed and stared at the ceiling. It was only 9:16 according to my phone. Since it was still to early for me to sleep, my mind started wondering...
Why did that man, Philip, look so familiar?
I fell asleep around 11-ish pondering over his face; didn't get much sleep though. I woke up at around 4:30, maybe 5 and returned to my quest of vengeance.
Each day of driving was even more exhausting than the last. Every day was the same: driving seemingly endless roads for twelve hours at a time with short pit stops every three to four hours... alone. The fact that I was alone didn't really bother me, it was rather enjoyable and peaceful. It was the fact that no one even cared that I up and left that really got to me. I hadn't gotten one text message or phone call the entire time I was gone.
To pass the time, I listened to music... a LOT. 105.5 being my go to station, of course, but most of the time I just connected my phone to the auxiliary cord. Keeping my music at full volume helped soothe my nerves; there's just something calming about the screaming and the bad ass guitar riffs.
It was on the third day that I had a Eureka! moment...
So that's why that man looked so familiar!
