The Game

(BOOK IS SET IN THE FUTURE) 10th July 2034

Everyone wanted to buy it! it was everywhere - in every shop, house, companies, work places, towns, websites. It was literally everywhere.  

"Zer0, the new limited edition game!" Yuki shouted behind you.

You nodded and looked at the screens that hung on the towering sky scrapers, they advertised the new game. You turn to face Yuki who was wearing a black leather jacket and a black skirt, her white hair was in a long pony tail. She was holding a red bag which held something inside. Before you could ask her what was in the bag, she pulled out a CD cover and said "Ha ha! I got the last CDs of the game from the city mall...you should have seen how many people were crying over them!"

You faced palmed and said "you were at the mall?! didn't you die in the floods of the people?!"

Yuki laughed at your questions and said "Oh...so you want me to be left out once you guys get into the game?"

You nodded as a joke and quickly said "did you say CDs?"

Yuki nodded and pulled out another CD case form her bag and handed it over to you. You looked at it in excitement and asked "you bought that for me?!" Yuki tilted her head and said "yeah.....I thought you might have not gone shopping yet so I took the last one for you...and besides your parents don't like you wasting money on things like this.."

You shook your head to the CD case in front of you and replied "Sorry, but I cant take it....it probably costed you a fortune!"

Yuki dropped the CD case into your hand and said "Exactly, I spent a fortune for these...what use would it be if you don't use it or take it" She looked at you and said "please....just take it" 

You looked at the cover and read 'Zer0 a new limited edition virtual game......for ages 11+.........the game servers would be online to BETAs only on 11th July 2034 10:00am..........and it will open to everyone on 14th July 2034 9:00am...........' 

"ummm.....just saying I put our names on the BETA list...if you don't mind" Yuki announced.

"you did what?! but that costs a lot....how much money did you spend today?!!!!" You shouted in shock.

"about over $/£2000" Yuki grinned.

You looked at the disc in your hand and said "You spend way too much Yuki....watch when you become broke...anyways where did you get the money?"

Yuki pointed at the tower behind her and said "my dad is in association with the game company so he is making a fortune at the moment"

You looked at her and smiled with gratitude and said "well is everyone else gonna be in the BETA? I think it would be awesome if they were..." 

Yuki replied "I don't know, I asked Kuro if he put his account into the BETA list but he said he was going to get to it" 

"Oh okay...hey why does it say that no re-play at the end?" you asked Yuki.

Yuki looked at the cover and said "I don't know maybe you can't re-play once your done..."

You looked at the cover again and said "I don't know but I have a bad feeling about this game" 

"ha ha! your always worried or freaked out when you are going to try something new" Yuki laughed.

You carried on staring at the cover and asked Yuki "So...how do you play this game? do you need a computer or gaming device?"

"Oh right...I almost forgot here take this" Yuki pulled out a headset box from her bag. "It goes with the game... once you put your disc into the computer, you put this headset on and you would soon enter the game.....well that's what they told me" She handed the headset box to you. The headset was different to all the other headsets you would find, it had a pear of glasses attached to them as well as a microphone. "The glasses are there so you can visualize all the things around you in the game" Yuki said.

You took the headset, which was in a box, and held the two item in your hand. Yuki laughed at you and said "Want a bag?" She picked out a bag from the red bag and handed over to you. You thanked her and placed the items into the bag. 

"Well it's getting late, I should get going now i'll see you in the game then" Yuki waved at you. 

She turned away and started walking when you quickly said "thanks a lot!" She raised her hand and carried on walking.
