Prologue
Once there was the Sun and the Moon. They lived in Peace and Harmony, always controlling Day and Night. A war raged between the Gods and caused Hatred and Strife between the Sun and Moon. To keep the balance aligned and keep the world from being swallowed by darkness, one lone Moon and Sun maiden went to Earth. They never returned.
Chapter 1
16 years later
"Mom! Where are my shoes?" Aspen hollered downstairs.
"Aspen, you don't need to yell. I'm right here and your shoes are behind the door sweetie", said Luan softly from the doorway.
Aspen jumped and exclaimed,"Mom! Why do you always sneak up behind me? Thank you." Aspen bent to pick up her shoes then hugged her mother. She hurriedly put them on and practically flew down the stairs. She grabbed her bag by the door, and raced outside yelling a goodbye to her mother. Aspen ran all the way to the school, five blocks from her house, without breaking a sweat. She was barely breathing hard when the first bell rang for class.
Aspen is a junior at Wellsberg High School in Pester, Mississippi. She's the youngest in her class and her sixteenth birthday was just three days away. Her best friends are setting up a surprise party with her mother and somehow she knew what they were planning but Aspen would act surprised anyways. The school day went by faster then she could blink and by the end of the day, she was wide awake.
As the last bell rang at the end of the day, Aspen jumped and raced out the door to beat the rush of kids.
