Three days have passed since the awkward Drew call, and since then, it was pretty awkward seeing him around. It was the last day of school, and the past three days of walking down the hallway and everyday I would see Drew with two other guys just staring at me like psychotic maniacs. Crazy things would always go in my mind, like what if they were planning to kill me, or even worse -- rape. But I knew Drew was better than that, and considering that he was considered as one of the hottest guys in school, he could get any girl if he wanted to. But all he kept saying was he wanted me, and only me. I didn't bother to tell anyone how this affected me so much, since I wouldn't be seeing him around for three months or so.
My mood changed from super scared to calm when I saw a girl with pig-tails rushing towards me.
"Are you coming to meet us at the court for the final countdown?" Arielle said while holding red party cups.
"Yeah, I'll be there." The final countdown was held after every school year, and just like New Year, we countdown until dismissal and we were all free! It would always be the best feeling ever.
All the students gathered up in the court with each of us holding a red cup filled with 'punch,' but was secretly mixed with a small amount of alcohol. My doctor didn't allow me to drink after 5 months of recovering, but I honestly wasn't into alcohol at all. And besides, guys like a girl who's polite and sweet, and isn't a so called 'party-girl.'
" AND 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" The bell rang and everyone was going crazy! All the students rushed out and as Arielle, Bea, and I were about to go, someone pulled me back inside the school. Which was empty at this point since everyone left. That person's grip was so hard, I couldn't let got.
"You know, we could still fix this right?" It was Drew, fuck. He pushed me towards the wall, his facial expression was a mix of anxiety and anger.
Bea and Arielle burst in the school entrance and Bea shouted, "Let go of her arm, Drew!"
"Drew, I'm sorry, we can't. Please, stop trying." While I managed to get loose of his grip and I quickly ran back outside. I heard a loud bang which I guess was Drew punching one of the lockers.
With my friends concerned, all they could say was, "Are you okay...?" "Yeah, yeah. I'm good." I said.
The first thing I did when Arielle and Bea dropped me off at my place was to pack for my charity work. The flight was actually at 10 p.m. the same day of our last day of school. I started gathering all my toiletries and the most important thing was my sunblock. I didn't want to look like a fried potato during One Direction's concert for crying out loud. I started packing all my clothes next, from shorts to leggings and to over-sized plain t-shirts that I wouldn't mind getting damaged.
My mom came knocking in my door and handed me some money and her old sunglasses, which I gave back because I reminded this wasn't vacation time -- but I gladly took the money just in case the plane crashed and I got lost at sea or something and I had to buy coconut juice from a monkey.
Few hours have passed and I said my goodbyes to my parents while Arielle and her dad were to come and pick me up. I felt quite happy doing this volunteer thing, considering the fact that people my age are just one twitter spamming every member of One Direction to follow them.
We arrived at the domestic airport, and we checked in our bags and decided to grab a few snacks before going. "Imagine how hot it is there," Arielle complained. "Don't think about that, at least you Dad gave you some pocket money didn't he?" I said. Arielle was about to complain again but I gave her a look and she said, "Well... yeah."
The flight was only about 1 hour and 45 minutes to be exact. I met up with the chairman of the charity and he gave us a small room at an inn to stay. The inn was painted beige and light brown outside and same with the inside. The cutest old lady and her son were the ones managing the inn along with some other staff members. The chairman told us to be up by 6 a.m. because that's when the children wake up for school.
We did what was asked of us and when our alarms started going off the following morning, Arielle and I were just grunting while changing. I just threw on a white over- sized shirt, black leggings, and a pair of white Converse.
There was a van that picked Ariele and I up, along with some other young volunteers.
"Hey, how are you guys liking your stay?" John, one of the volunteers asked.
"Oh, It's pretty good" I said.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, pretty good."
"Wait till' you see the things you have to work on!" Mary, another volunteer said while handing us some Cheetos.
And Mary was right, teaching kids was pretty hard to do, but the good thing is, they wanted to learn. After about one hour of teaching it was the kids break time, so I decide to take Mia and Mar, which were both siblings, back to their Mom, which they said was helping out cook the food for the volunteers. They said it was the least she could for the volunteers since they re-built their house.
While I was helping this kid get water from a dispenser, Sheila, the charity's media-head asked me if she could put my photo in brochures and in their website. I was unaware that she took a stolen shot of me holding Mia and Mar, but I gladly said yes.
"Shiela!" A boisterous voice shouted. It was Mr. Henry, the chairman. "How are we on our celebrity volunteers?"
"They're great! I just sent their publicist the link to our website which I put Ms. Gabrielle's picture in" Sheila said, while smiling towards me.
"Celebrities? Who?" I said puzzled.
"Oh, One Direction!" Shiela said.
