Ray POV
She hopped in front of me and grabbed my hand to pull me out.
When I was free, we ran across the road, with her shooting the police. I felt a sharp pain in my leg. Them mothafuckas done shot me. My knees buckled at the pain, but she kept me up.
We ended up in the woods on the side of the road. She stopped in front of this tree, then looked at me. Like I knew what the fuck to do.
"Climb up the tree."
I looked at her like she was crazy. "I can't climb up this fuckin tree. I got shot in my fuckin leg."
"Rayan, please.... You have to try."
She was close to tears. I started to climb, even though my leg stung like shit. By the time I was all the way up, police had the flashlights shining on her. I don't think they saw me though.
She ran deeper into the woods, while they followed. All I could do was watch.
2 hours later, the cops walked out of the woods. I waited until every last squad car's lights were gone. I looked in the direction she ran. She might be dead.
Then, I heard a snap in the ground. I panicked and turned, ready to shoot. But, it was her. She smiled up at me.
She saved my life.
