"So we're all set for the first right?" I ask leaning against the sleek black desk.

"Of course my love. Your line is a complete success. We already have hundreds of locations placing orders for when it's released. You did an amazing job."

"Thank you Kai." I address my boss before walking towards the door.

"No problem Cara. Take it easy until the launch okay? I'll call you if we need anything else."

I give him a grateful smile before leaving the building. I step into my navy blue Nissan Maxima. As I sit onto the plush grey seats my phone rings.

"Hello." I answer.

"Cara. I need you here. I'm in the hospital."

"What happened?" I ask annoyance lacing every word.

"I'm sick. Please Cara, just come I really think this might be it for me. And I promise I'll never ask you anything else."

"Yeah right. I'm on my way. Send me the address to the hospital."

"Thank you so mu-" I end the call before she can finish her sentence then I buckle up and head home to pack a bag.

If you're wondering why I'm not really concerned with my mother's sudden "illness" it's because she does this all the time. She call me at the most random times demanding that I come se her because she is dying. Then she tells me some ridiculous story about how she got cured and then proceeds to ask me for some outrageous amount of money.

With this information in mind I make sure to pack my checkbook and get back in my car to the airport.

Since it's not going to be used for a couple more days I send a quick text to Kai telling him that I'll be borrowing the company jet.

After refueling and safety checks I get on the lavish private plane and the captain tells me that the flight from Seoul to Nice will take fifteen hours but we'll have to stop once for refueling.

I head to my seat and sleep for most of the flight, seeing how I haven't gotten any sleep in the past thirty-six hours.

I am woken up when we begin our descent into Nice, France. I get my luggage and hail a cab to take me to the hospital. Thankfully I only took a small suitcase to hold my essentials knowing that I'd be leaving in a few hours.

I walk into the sterile smelling building. I walk up to the reception before my mother walks up to me looking as hysterical as I remember.

"Oh Cara, you came!" She wraps her arms around me.

"Hi mom. So what happened?"

"Oh. Turns out it's just a cold. I'm alright. But now that that's settled we can hang out right?"

"Um..."

"Great let's go." She grabs my wrist and leads me out to the car that she requested of me last time I was here. She practically pushed me into the passenger seat and she sped out of the parking lot.

"Mom are you okay?" I ask as she nears a red light, seeing the nervousness in her eyes. She pushes and auburn lock behind her esr before meeting my gaze.

"Of course, I'm fine. Oh here I got you a gift." She pulls out a velvet covered box from the glove compartment and hands it to me.

I open up the box and inside sits the most beautiful price of jewelry I have ever set my eyes on. It's a ring that has two bands that are connected by a single circle cut rainbow quartz. Both the bands and the ring that contains the gem are encrusted with diamonds. I tear my eyes away from the gorgeous accessory and place an accusatory gaze on my mother.

"What's this for?"

"Can't I just give my daughter a gift every now and then without any ulterior motives?"

"No you can't because you're you."

"Look, I just wanted to give you something nice. I mean you have given me more money than I know what to do with and I thought I should at least attempt to repay you for your generosity."

Since she seems genuine enough I carefully take the ring out and place it on my left ring finger. It's a perfect fit. A few minutes later as I am admiring the ring's shine in the sunlight my mother begins to speak again.

"So Cara tell me, are there any men in your life?"

"Not since the last time you asked me." I sigh.

"Well you should start thinking about marriage. I mean you don't want to be an old maid like me do you?"

"I'm fine with being single mom. I'm actually enjoying my life right now and when I'm ready to settle down I will."

"Well you should start settling down now while your still in your prime."

"I'm twenty one. I think I have enough time."

"Well I want grandchildren soon Cara."

I just sigh and discontinue the conversation. After another twenty minutes of driving my mother stops the car and parks in front of a tall building made of cream colored concrete that is accented with gold, and it is glowing in the setting sun.

"Let's go." She says with shaking hands.

I step out the car and follow her into the building only to be greeted to an even more pristine looking inside. The marble floors reflect the light given off from the diamond chandelier that hangs in the lobby.

The place wreaks of wealth and power.

Completely bypassing the reception we walk into the elevator and she presses the button for the top floor. When doors open we head to the last door in the long corridor and she opens it using a key card.

I am floored once I see the intricate designs and everything in this suite. The kitchen has a gold marble island accompanied by modern appliances and glass cutlery.

The couch in the living room has light embroidered edges, six plush looking pillows, and a six foot something hunk on it.

The walls are a nice cream colo-

Wait, what?

My eyes travel back to the man sitting on the couch. He's holding a bouquet of baby blue eyes. I lock onto his icy blue stare and he stands up blushing. He hands me the flowers and I give him a quick smile before turning to my mother for answers.

She sighs before walking to my side and placing a hand on the small of my back.

"Cara, I'd like you to finally meet Henry. Your fiancé."

"My what?" I ask the flowers falling from my grasp.
