The Testing

Nico POV

This 'Director Fury' wanted to do some tests on us. He said it was for our records. Sure.

The problem is, Will and I only have half the amount of DNA then the regular human. That would raise a couple of questions. I was also littered with scars from my various battles, and Will's body wasn't free from the occasional scar either. Even a peaceful(ish) demigod isn't safe in our world. Along with that, I have never been to a doctor (in this century). Will has been to a couple, as his mother doesn't know about the gods, but the Mist covered things up.

That was the problem. The Mist. I had a sneaking suspicion that it was shutting down somehow. How else would a whole team and a bunch of mortals be able to see a flaming monster from the Greek Pantheon?

If I am correct, then no demigod is safe. The government will kill us off unless we are able to fight them. That would end in a battle that no mortal would win.

"No way. There is no way anyone is performing any tests on me or my husband." I raise my voice slightly.

"You are not in the position to tell me what to do, boy." Fury replies, angrily.

"I am not a boy."

Will leaned into me and whispered in my ear again. "He should respect his elders."

I snickered a bit. He sure should.

"The answer is no. I am not letting some government guy who I have never met perform tests on me." I say firmly

I looked over at the Norse god. He looked slightly panicked. "How about a compromise. Bruce, would you be able to perform the tests?"

Bruce looked slightly surprised at being called on. "I-Yes, probably."

I was about to say something but Will interrupted. "I think that would work, thanks Thor."

I frowned at Will, but nodded slightly. Thor looked relieved.

"When can we get this over with?" I sigh.

Bruce (I'm always angry) Banner

I was surprised, to say the least at being called on by Thor. I didn't even think the god remembered that I was a doctor as well as a scientist. I had heightened my skills during my tour (run from the law), learning the most perhaps in Peru. There were so many sick people in that country.

I was led by Fury to the medical room, which I noted had a one-way glass window. I then noticed a few S.H.I.E.L.D agents setting up the equipment that the director had called for, and then they left, leaving us standing in the doorway.

Nico, Will, and I entered carefully, closing the door behind us. I could tell by the way their eyes swivelled to the window that they knew. They exchanged glances and then sat down in the seats provided. I noticed a booklet on a desk and picked it up, my eyes scanning the pages.

It explained what I had to test for. There was an awful lot of things, more then i would have thought for two early adults.

I started with the hearing test, then the taste test, then the smell test. They did very well with each one. Then we got to the eye test.

Will had been commenting during the procedures, as he had told me he was learning to be a nurse himself. He frowned when I announced the eye test. "Just to let you know, both Nico and I are dyslexic."

I was surprised. I had seen the nurses tests, and they were difficult, to say the least. How would Will be able to pass these tests?

Nico gave me an expressionless face. "We can read Ancient greek though, and I can read Latin."

I frowned, thinking. That was technically medically impossible, but I had heard a few reports of people having this problem. The strange thing was, that those people I had heard about could only read Ancient Greek or Latin as well...

I shook my head slightly and continued with the test. Just as I had expected, their eyesight was perfect, perhaps better compared to others their age. But they were unable to read the words.

We progressed slowly through the tests, but then it got to my least favourite.

"It says we have to do a blood test..." I say absently.

"No," Nico replied.

Will held Nico's hand. "That will be fine, Doctor Banner."

Nico looked apprehensive but held out his arm for me to take blood. I inserted the syringe into one of his veins and pulled out the blood.

I put it in a test tube for later and did the same for Will.

"This is the last test. We need to wire you up for a physical on the treadmill. You will have to remove your shirts for this."

This time, both of them looked as if they were in a state of panic.

"Can we skip this one, Doctor Banner?" Will sad quietly.

I frowned. "I can ask Director Fury, but I doubt it. This test measures sweat, heart pressure and endurance."

"Please, could you ask?" Nico said quietly.

I nodded and exited the room. I turned the corner to where I presumed Fury would be. I saw him there with only Natasha and Steve left. The others seemed to have lost interest.

"Can we skip the physical?" I ask quietly.

"No. If they don't want to perform it, then they have something to hide." Fury deadpans.

Steve steps forward. "Give them a break, director. They've been through enough this morning."

"No is my final answer."

I walk back to the room, and deliver the bad news to the boys.

They groan, and slowly remove their tops. I gasp in horror, and see my vision tint slightly green.
