...After their first two consecutive days together, Savannah didn't see Billy again for a little over a week. Not that they didn't stay in touch, they kept up frequent texts, but Savannah was busy with classes and work and Billy had a business to run.
"Oh my god, Tee, if he texts you one more time during this episode I will flip my shit." Yara complained, tearing herself from the show she was watching to glare half-playfully at her roommate. She had reason to complain, Savannah's phone had been buzzing pretty much constantly for ten days now.
"Just get it over with and have sex with him."Tommy scoffed and rolled her eyes, sitting back on the couch with her legs out in front of her as she replied to the message, explaining how Billy was irritating her roommate playfully.
Another buzz made Yara throw a yellow throw pillow at Tommy's head, making her giggle a kick it back towards Yara. This one simply said call me. Tommy pushed herself up from the couch and hit Yara's head as she walked past towards her room.
She dialled his number as she shut her door, flicking the light on and laying back on her bed. Savannah felt lucky — the thought of him being older than her seemed like a distant memory now, he was handsome and funny and so supportive of her school work. In her head, part of her was already calling him boyfriend material. Though she was far from ever telling him that.
"Hey." His voice came immediately after the ringing stopped, deep and calm — soothing. Savannah smiled instinctively,
"Hey." She replied, bending her knees as she stared at the ceiling. She looked around her room and imagined what he would think of it; the room wasn't exactly childish, but it was still evidently a dorm room."Are you busy right now?" Billy asked, he was standing outside his car outside the ANVIL headquarters, leaning against the hood. It had been an irritating day all in all — he wanted to leave work far behind.
"No, just watching movies with Yara. Why?" Savannah answered him quickly, wincing at the possibility of him asking her put right now. She was in her pyjamas."How 'bout I come pick you up? We could go for a drink, now that I know you're twenty-one." The last part came in a teasing tone, she could practically hear the smirk through his thick New Yorker accent. Tommy grinned. "Sure, you'll have to give me a second to get ready though." She replied, probably a little too soon.
Billy unlocked the car, holding the phone to his ear with the other hand, "No problem, I'm driving over straight from work, so I'll see you in like forty-five minutes?"
"Yeah, I'll see you then. Bye, Billy." She successfully addressed him by his first name instead of his last, making him smirk as he repeated the saying and hung up.Savannah put her phone on charge, untangling her hair from the bun that it was in as she walked to her closet, "Yara — I'm going out, okay?" She called. Yara was through the door in seconds, now sipping coffee with a thick book on human anatomy tucked under her other arm, she leaned against the doorframe and squinted at Tommy, "With Billy? Like a date?"
Tommy shrugged as she pulled two different shirts out of her closet, eyeing them critically, "Yeah," She decided on the sweater given that it was October now and getting cold quickly. "How's your sister?"
With an exaggerated shrug, Yara leaned her head back against the wall and sighed. She and her older sister had never been close, Dee was fifteen years older and worked overseas. Still, Yara looked up to her like no one else.
"Busy." She breathed.
