❮pov: dan❯
today was the day. today was the day dan howell would get married to phil lester. dan tightened the bow tie around his neck and looked at himself in the mirror, running his hand through his messy and extremely curly hair in an attempt to flatten it. after three minutes of patting the curls down, dan gave up completely on trying to look remotely sharp for the wedding. after all, phil didn't want me to straighten my hair for this wedding, so i guess he wants it curly? i don't really know. i'm so stressed out. is my breath fresh? yes. are any buttons not buttoned? no. is my fly closed? yes. okay, i think i'm ready. dan stood up straighter and walked out of his dressing room. phil met him at the beginning of the aisle.
"are you ready?"
"as ready as i'll ever be."
the guests began to get settled as the calming wedding music began playing. phil hooked dan's arm around his.
"ready?"
"more ready than i was two minutes ago."
phil laughed quietly.
"let's do this, dan."
their arms linked tightly, the two men began walking down the aisle slowly. their separate families saw them, and dan could see that his mother and phil's mother were quietly crying together. when they got to the end of the aisle, they stood on opposite sides of each other, linking hands and letting go of each other's arms. dan noticed that phil already had tears running down his face, and dan knew he was crying as well. while the priest said a couple stereotypical wedding words, dan and phil looked deeply into each other's eyes. dan knew that they were thinking the same thing: 'when will he stop talking?' i don't know. 'what are you going to say for the vows?' i'm not supposed to tell you. 'meh, you're right.' finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the priest stopped talking and indicated to phil that he should read his vows first. so, phil took the chance and got a piece of paper out of his suit.
"daniel howell. the man i first met at a coffee shop, and fell in love with anonymously. the beautiful man that i almost broke the heart of, because of a terrible choice of words that i had used. but we pulled through it. and the last four years together have been amazing with you. we moved in together. we've adopted a dog together, and we've laughed endlessly together. and i knew, from day one, that i wanted to spend my entire life with you. dan howell, i love you. and this time, i know i'm in love with you."
dan smiled. he took his vows to phil out of his pocket.
"phil lester. the man that i didn't know, until susan decided to hire you so many years back. the texts we shared, the coffee we've shared, the love we've shared. when i met you, with your amazing, kind and caring personality, i knew that i was falling in love with you. and although it's usually hard for me to come to terms with my emotions, coming to terms with the fact that i loved you took me only a day. the last four years with you have been amazing. i proposed to you knowing that you have been the best influence in my life from day one, when you graced my presence. you've become the sun, the moon, and the stars in my life. phil lester, i love you too."
even the priest was crying.
"daniel james howell, do you sincerely promise to take this man and stay with him in sickness and health, in poor and wealth, and till death do you part?"
"i do."
"philip michael lester, do you sincerely promise to take this man and stay with him in sickness and health, in poor and wealth, and till death do you part?"
"i promise."
"and with that, i pronounce you husband married to husband. you may now kiss the other!"
dan's lips met phil's, and just like their first kiss, two bodies became one. but now, two spirits, two souls, two units of existence, became linked as one, linked as together, for all eternity.
