I wonder who I'm speaking to as I write this down.
So many people when asked for advice always give you the weapon for the battle; I'm here to give you the weapon for the war.
Self-identification is truly a formidable weapon in our arsenal of life. A double edged sword that is the cause, and solution to so many problems in our society.
If I asked you, how much do you know of yourself how will you answer? If I asked you about your strengths and weaknesses will be able to write a complete list down? Hand on heart?
Some of you are sitting there, reading this like "yes of course I can" but how will you even know your strengths and weaknesses when you can't even identify who you are as a person. And I reiterate who you ARE not who you THINK you are.
I love the term "dog eat dog world" because that's actually nonsense. Reason being is 1. Dogs don't eat dogs 2. Like anything an appetite can be quenched.
We live in a "light snuff light" world, not a dog eat dog world. A world where even your friends and family can feel the light radiating from you and want to snuff it out, why ? Because once a light becomes too bright then the other lights around you become useless and irrelevant.
Think I'm lying? Turn on your torch during the day. What happens? It's Useless. Why? Because it's in the presence of an even greater light, the sun.
And going back to the dog eat dog analogy, a person's ability to snuff out another person's light is limitless. How many times have you thought someone has done the worst they can do, then goes onto exceed your expectation. Why ? Because their ability, their appetite, to snuff out lights is bottomless like an abyss.
Now I'm not saying disown all your friends and neglect the teachings of your parents. But what I want you to understand is that a lot of the times when those close to us want to dim our light it's because they can't comprehend or understand your light, and the Unknown is one of mankind's biggest fears. Watch the interview of Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Black Panther) imitating his parents when he told them he wanted to be an actor. It's not out of malice, but they just couldn't comprehend acting as a successful career until he reached that success.
Which is again why it's so important to be secure in one's self. If not you will allow your life to be guided by those around you. Trust me, as a young man coming from a strict West African household I know the battle. But until you stop living for others and live for yourself you will never truly be happy and truly attain your purpose in life.
It doesn't stop there. This is my favourite one. The system most of us reading live in, is a system designed to snuff out lights. It's not a system encourages you to become a leader or a millionaire, it's a system that tries to snuff out your light to become a worker, a small, replaceable, dependent cog in a much larger machine that feeds the bellies of the wealthy. Think about it. From when you are able to make decisions consciously for yourself, nursery - reception - primary - secondary - college/sixth form - university.
In the list I've given you where do you get the chance to actually explore who you are as a person? What you're capable of, where your interests really are. Don't think because you've got good grades in science that your destiny is a scientist. This is all the illusion given to you by the system. It's only 9 years later when you've graduated with a 2:1 in biomedical science working as a manager in Sainsbury's that you realise this isn't what you want for yourself for the rest of your life.
Now please do not misunderstand what I'm saying. Education is important period. It's the RELIANCE of the education given that I'm trying to enlighten you on. The reliance of the system is literally like playing Russian roulette. Your fate is not always in your hands.
