"I came here to speak to a man whose name strikes fear and power into one's mind!" Her voice was hoarse, the words strained and raspy as they left her lips, "Not some blubbering fool who refuses to acknowledge my terms."

"Miss Gry-"

"That name died generations ago." She cut the old man off so quickly, she missed how his face fell. Silence passed as the two stared at each other. The man's face was filled with memories of a past so long ago and the girl whose presence alone shook the world he fought for.

"Alright then, what name should I call you?" He asked, finally to find the words to say.

"My name is Yn Aslan" she whispered, she looked at him and her eyes hurt. He studied her face before choosing his next words. Her ringed red eyes, the twitch in her brow and lip, and her dilated pupils. He decided for her sake and hers alone.

"Alright..." He paused, "...miss Aslan, what's your plan now?"

"You already know it" she muttered as she left his office, she paused before she reached the door and refused to turn away as she spoke these parting words, "To think, my parents held you in such high regard, Albus"

.

"The sorting hat will choose your house!" The professor yelled out in glee. The girl entered the hall as the first years had begun to finish their sorting. She watched as they announced each house.

The man of the hour stepped out, Albus Dumbledore. He was an elderly old man who the room fell silent for. All eyes followed and all ears listened to what he began to say. He spoke of the school's many triumphs throughout the years. The deaths that have fallen, the lies made and revealed. And how it was all thanks to a boy and his friends.

"Thank you, Harry Potter," The old man continued his praise as the girl watched the boy smile. He was a year younger than her, she entered her fourth year as he entered his third.

Her name was called out. She raised a brow, this was not supposed to happen. This was not the deal.

"It has been a long time since we have had a student transfer into Hogwarts," he began, "I would like to put some respect to our new student's name, Miss Yn Aslan, and sort her into a house. She may not be a first year student, however it is her first year here."

"That old coot." She whispered annoyed at the announcement. She plastered on a smile as she walked up to the front of the hall. Her cheeks hurt as she turned to face the curious crowd. The hat was placed on her head as it read her thoughts, wants, and desires.

"You, my dear, are a peculiar one," it began, "you grew up full of songbirds, full of sun and the breeze. But your family's blood has been in places of power, places of worth- and oh so that is who you are. That is who you were. I see this is not the first time one of your kind steps into Hogwarts." The hat fell silent as it pondered.

"..." the girl said nothing. She knew not what she could say to help decide her fate. She could try to twist it, plot against it, however she was at the mercy of a bloody hat.

"You are a soul whose fire burns bright, it grows weary as your desires become hard to find. But you've come so far to a place only your ancestry knows. Dearly, you are a Slytherin, through and through" As it yelled the word, the room's atmosphere changed.

Booes echoed through the halls.

"Blast this damn hat" she growled. It placed her in a house whose name echoed darkness. It placed her in a position where her goals became thrice as hard.

"Take a seat with your house miss Aslan."

"If I must," she walked towards an empty seat. Eyes followed her every move. Whispers in the air as she sat down. She locked eyes with the boy whose name she only knew and he looked at her with contempt. She raised her head to the challenge. She had a goal only the boy could help her accomplish. Even if he hated her while doing so.
