Prologue

Tell me. Why is life so needlessly complicated?

Anyways, let's get into this.

So, uuhhh.... My friend Riptide told me to make a prologue to introduce the story, but I decided to make it my own way.

Okay, so in this story, there are beings known as 'half-dragons', and it's exactly as it sounds. Half human, half dragon.

For every year, from when they're 15-18, the half dragons go to a camp meant to train, and protect half dragons until they can fend for themselves.

But you may be wondering,"Protect them from what?"

Well, let me tell you the story of the hydra known as Malum.

In the days of old, as in, centuries ago, Malum lived among the dragon tribe of hydras.

They all were happy, but Malum wasn't satisfied with his way of life. He wanted to become powerful.

More powerful than any of the dragons, more powerful than God.

So, he stole the magical amulet known as, 'The Dragon Heart', from God.

The Dragon Heart contains the souls of 1,000 dragons, and whenever a dragon, half or not, wears it, their power increases to the point where they could level mountains with a wave of their hand.

God was not happy with Malum, and he ordered the other members of the hydra tribe to destroy him.

Malum heard this, and he quickly put on the amulet, and began slaughtering his people.

But, a 24 of them survived.

Most sided with Malum, out of fear, and out of promises of great power.

Others didn't, because they would never dream of defying God.

So, the last of the hydras used their souls to perform the most powerful magical seal, to try and permanently seal him away forever.

But, Malum was cunning.

Malum used the power within the Dragon Heart to weaken the seal, while losing the amulet in the process.

And before he was sealed away with the rest of his lackeys, he pledged that he would return to obtain the amulet once again, and become the true God of their world.

After this event, God told the other twelve dragon tribes what became of the Hydras.

To try and prevent dragons from going extinct for when Malum returns, they gave up their dragon forms, and merged with the early human society, while hiding their dragon features under their skin, only sprouting them when needed.

Centuries later, and the dragons have perfectly blended in so far. But, they've taken notice that Malum's seal was weakening, and more and more half dragons were disappearing.

To try and prevent this, the dragons formed the mentioned camp for young half dragons to join, so that they could be protected, and trained so that they would survive to live full lives.

But this won't stop Malum.
