Lethal Love

Chapter 1

I awake to the sound of my alarm clock. Fuck. Its 6 a.m on a Monday morning in Chi Town Chicago. I groan and roll out of bed, literally.

I smack on the floor, pillows coming down after me. My cat, Ginger jumps on top of me...not to say 'goodmorning master' like a good pet should but instead gives me that look like 'where the hell is my food woman'

I get up and walk to the kitchen to get her breakfast. Once she is satisfied I stroll back to my bedroom to decide which clothes I should wear today. I decided on a plain white T-back shirt along with my jean shorts and jean colored converse. I throw on a button up jean jacket to give a little pizzazz. I put on my raybands and my owl charmed necklace and I pull my long black hair up into a simple high ponytail. I was aiming for a girl next door kind of look, not to fancy but comfortable and stylish.

I grab my keys, phone and bag and head out door.

As I walk down the now windy roads of Chicago, praising myself for wearing the jacket, I notice four missed calls from my bestfriend Maddy.

I call her back immediately.

"Lilliana Shepherd where have you been! I have been trying to call you all last night and this morning" My redhaired friend voice peirces through the phone.

Ugh I hate when people call me by my whole first name I would rather be called Lilly.

"Im sorry my phone must have been off. What was the rush to speak to me about anyway?" I say sounded slightly annoyed. Not that I was, its just that Maddy can be a little overbearing at times.

"It's Scott. He hasn't been returning any of my phone calls Lilly. I dont know what to do. has he been there with Jake?"

"umm..no I havent heard from scott or Jake" I mumble.

"What do you mean you havent heard from Jake? Isn't he your boyfriend?"

"Yes he is and you know that. He told me he was going to visit his parents in New York for the weekend and I trust him."

"Lilly I don't think you should trust him after what happened wi-"

"Don't even go there Maddison. That was the past, I don't leave in the past, neither does Jake and neither should you" I cut her off

"But-"

"But nothing.Listen I got to go I have class in 5 minutes and im not even halfway to campus."

"Well ok I will talk to you later."

I end the call and begin to walk faster as I feel light rain coming down. Once I make it to campus I head to the cafateria. I know I told Maddy I had class, which I do just not in 5 minutes.

After i'm done eating my breakfast, I head to my class to sit through another boring day at the University of Chicago.

I reach home at 4 p.m. I meet Ginger asleep under the coffee table. Strange.

She is usually running around in search of something to scratch.

I begin to walk to the kitchen to get my usual Chobani greek yogurt with oat flakes.When I get there i'ts already out for me on the table. Spoon and all. Trying to process what was happeing, I feel two arms slip around my waist and a kiss on my cheek.

"Miss me baby?" Jake's deep Southern accent whispers in my ear.

"Of course I did babe" I say turning around to meet his beautiful green orbs.

"Oh really? Well why dont go come to our bedroom and show me how much you missed me?" he said smirking.

I roll my eyes. It seems that all we do is have sex, which isn't a bad thing but somethimes I would like to talk and actually be a couple.

"I cant, I have to study for a huge Econ test on Thursday"

"You can study later. Oh come on baby I havent seen you in 3 days. I missed you and I know you missed this." He begins kissing behind my ear and down my neck to my sweet spot. Oh lord.

"I really wish I could but this test is really important, plus I have work in 2 hours." I hated working at a Diner but it brought in enough money to almost fully pay rent each month.

"Please?" he begs.

"No Jake" I say not giving in.

"Fine!" he huffs and walks towards the front door.

"Where are you going?" I shout at him.

"Somewhere far away from here." he says and slams the door.

Instead of running after him like some lovesick girl, I sit down eat my yogurt and take a bath. Once im done I decide to study for a while. I take a glimpse of the clock. Its 5:40. I have 15 minutes to get ready for work and a 5 minute walk. I put on my uniform which is a hideous pale pink buttonup dress with a black trim around the sleeves and collar along with white socks and black flats. Did I mention the most horrid hat I have to wear? I dont wear it anyway.

I put out some food and water for Ginger and head out the door.
