Christina closed the door behind her and ran to Adam, who was waiting her leaning against his black 1958 Porsche Speedster in his casual blue jeans, white t-shirt and leather black boots. Christina thought that, with his arms folded on his chest and his Wayfarer on, he looked like a model. Adam looked at her with a smirk on his face and enjoyed how dazzling she was in her black skinny jeans, her red sweater and her classics black and red Louboutins, like she was fresh out the catwalk. She got next to him and kissed him softly, leaving a rest of her trademark red lipstick on his mouth.
—Oh, sorry. —She said, trying to clean the lipstick with her thumb—I did a mess.
—I don’t care. —Adam took her by the waist, pulled her closer and kissing her again. She giggled and bit his lower lip before letting him go—That’s better.
Adam took her by the hand and helped her to get inside the car like a perfect gentleman. While he got in the car too, she took the chance get her sunglasses out of her purse and put them on. It was a really sunny day in Los Angeles.
—So, where are we going? —She wanted to know.
—I have no idea…—Adam started the engine and drove away from Christina’s house—Where do you want to go?
—I don’t really care. —She squeezed his hand, which was resting in the gearshift. —As long as I’m with you…
—And they say I’m the corny one! —He said laughing.
—I learned from the best.
They rode in the streets of LA in that beautiful, cloudless and summery afternoon enjoying the weather, the music and each other’s presences. They talked about everything, they joked, they bickered and, most of all, they laughed.
—Oh! —Adam exclaimed, realizing where they were.
—What’s up, hon?
—This is the neighborhood where I grow up. —He said, smiling. —I didn’t realize where we were heading until now. I didn’t do it on purpose.
—I guess I will do the same thing if we were in my hometown…
—Oh, I didn’t know you could drive in heaven… —He said, making her cackle.
—That’s what I’ve been waiting for!
—You know I’m the best with catch up lines.
—That was corny even for you, Mr. Cheesy.
—Look! —He said, pulling over and pointing to a beautiful house. —That was my home!
Christina caught a brief glimpse of nostalgia across Adam's face. She could see all the feelings inside Adam just by looking at his beautiful face. She got off the car and walked toward the door.
—What are you doing? —Adam wanted to know. He got off the car too and followed her.
—Nothing. —Christina got to the door and rang the bell.
—Christina! —Adam complained. Then, an old woman opened the door.
—May I help you? —She asked gently, looking at Christina and Adam who was behind her.
—Good afternoon madam. —Christina said with her most polite voice. — My name is Christina and this is my boyfriend Adam.
—Hi. —Adam waved at her.
—You don't know us and I know this is going to sound a little weird, —Christina continued—but we want to ask you a favor.
—What is it? —The old lady asked. It seemed that she didn’t recognize them.
