River's POV

"Drop Your Weapons, you're on in five!" The stage manager shouted through the live music being performed off stages in the distance.

Drop Your Weapons... That's how far we've come. To where people know your band. To where people recognise you in the streets. To where you receive amazing fan art. To where you've 'saved peoples lives'.

If you told 12 year old River that in a few years she would be opening main stage for Slam Dunk, her little heart would be crying.

It's been my dream since... I don't really know how long... To be in a band. To perform in front of hundreds of people.

And now I finally get to do that.

And a bonus, with my best friends!

"Hey River, loosen up, you'll be amazing!" My best friend in the world, Harmon said with his hand on my shoulder, noticing that I was tense.

Me and Harmon are inseparable! He was the one who originally got me into playing music so he's the main reason I'm where I am right now. Without him... I'd be working at ASDA scanning groceries for a living.

Harmon picked up his drumsticks and starting playing in the air as I grabbed my Ibanez bass and threw it around my body.

"Where's Cas and L?" I asked while tuning my bass.

"L went to go get changed, Cas is probably doing his hair or some shit like that!" Harmon answered, smiling with his dimples as deep as the ocean.

On queue, both guitarists walked backstage looking ready for our set.

"Where have you idiots been?" The drummer asked, smile not falling.

"Someone was with.. Uh.. Someone couldn't find their shoes." Elijah nervously answered.

"Shoes huh?" I mumbled.

"1 minute!!" The guy shouted again, making all the backstage crew pace frantically.

"Right," we all huddled into a small circle, "We're doing this for everyone out there today, we're doing this for everyone who's ever supported us but most importantly, we're doing this for each other!"

We all hugged tightly as if it were our last time. This little speech has become a ritual before going on stage.

We were given the signal to go on, so first up, Harmon ran out.

After the crowd screamed, Caspian ran on stage.

"Is everything okay with Cas?" I quickly asked Elijah before he ran on.

"I'll talk to you on the bus about it." And he ran out.

After the crowd cheered for L, I took and deep breath and ran out into the screams and bright lights.

A/N quick little chapter to start this story off. Hi.
