Chapter 2
“Everyone meet me in the living room I have something important to ask you!” I yelled throughout the house. I heard a bunch of footsteps coming down the hall, while waiting I yelled the same thing outside. The house has high arched ceilings everywhere, so it looks big and open. The living room has a cream colored carpet, with light brown walls. When you open the door its right in front, dining room to the left and kitchen to the right. The hallway leading to all the rooms is also on the left. The living room also has a brown leather couch facing the tv, a love seat, facing the wall, and a one person seat against the wall facing the love seat. A couple feet from the tv is a wood burning fireplace and a sliding glass door that leads to the backyard. Everyone was now in the room either standing around or sitting looking at me expectantly. “So I have a very important question and I need your opinions on it.” They waited. “My Grandmothers room has been empty for a while and rather than moving into it myself I was thinking; should it be another room for more boys to come, or should it be a game room so you don’t have to crowd this room?” They were silent for a minute.
“Di, do you really want us to answer that because I think you know what we’ll choose.” Brooks said. Brooks is 17, tall black hair, nice muscles, would be a heart breaker if I hadn’t taught him right, and has been here since he was 12.
“Well, yeah but if I did the game room it would cost more than another guys room, so that would mean we would all have to spend more time here instead of going out. Does that seem like a fair trade for you all, more time here, and you’ll get a game room?”
“Yeah!” They all answered back.
I laughed, “Okay, and also we will be getting a new guy in here soon, his name is Adam and he’s 17. Blaine he’ll be sharing your room.” He just nodded knowing it was going to happen. You see all the guys here have to share a room with one other person. The younger kids have rooms close to mine while the older boys have rooms closer to the beginning of the hallway. I dismissed the boys and most of them left the others stayed behind to talk to me.
Its a few weeks later, and my grandmother’s old room is now a game room with an attached bathroom. The walls are black; the two side walls have maroon and gray plaid on it on top of the black. The floor is gray shag carpet, its soft. When you first walk in you see a bunch of chairs/couches. On the back wall is a window with blackout curtains, on the left side of the room you see a large plasma screen TV. and all the game consoles around it. On both sides of the TV are stacks of games. The ceiling is also black with glow in the dark stickers on it, so basically they always are glowing. There are now 23 boys living in this house and me. There are 13 bedrooms, a game room, 6 bathrooms, and you know a kitchen and such. The new guy Adam is also tall, 17, tan, okay build, with beach boy hair and green eyes, overall he was pretty good looking. The boys and him got along great. Adam though, is just a normal human, so he can’t know about the secret pack inside this house. You may not notice by how close all of us are to each other that we have secrets, but we actually have more than most families. In the house I am sometimes known as the secret keeper because all of the guys have told me their secrets before and I keep them. At school, people don’t know that the guys are actually orphans except for their close friends, most people just believe the lie that we told them about having a really big family and some of us like to travel more than others. Yeah, people here don’t really gossip about family, just relationships so we were good anyway. My schedule is 1adv history 2adv science 3adv language arts (lunch) 4PE 5college math 6adv art. Adam was in all except 3, 4, 6. Since there are so many guys at the house that go here (even though some are younger), I knew at least AT THE VERY LEAST one of them would be in a class with me. Today is Monday and I’m about to wake all the guys up. Joy. I walked out of my room, the rooms closest to me are the younger boys and furthest away are the oldest, the youngest we have right now is 8, he’s been here about a year and a half and has brown hair and brownish, green eyes, name is Lukas. He rooms with Westley who’s been here for half a year, is 9, and has brown hair and really nice green eyes. Westley is a werewolf. So I went in and woke up Lukas first; “Hey buddy you need to wake up now it’s time to go to school.” I shook him a little bit, then ruffled is hair and kissed his forehead. Groggily he woke up and I gave a slight chuckle at the look on his face. I looked on the lower half of the bunk bed he was on and did the same to Westley but telling him that Lukas was already awake first. I walked through the house basically doing the same thing to all the boys, some of the older boys wake up their roommate for me once I wake them up, they both get a kiss on the check though. Blaine and Adam’s room was the last I went into; usually the new guys aren’t used to this so it’s a little weird. I went to Blaine first, he had the bottom bunk. “Blaine,” I said in a sing song voice. “you need to wake up now sweetheart or else you won’t be able to get the good cereal.” I knew he was awake cause he gave a hoarse laugh at that.
“So true, did you wake Adam yet?”
“Nah, I wanted to wake you first.”
“Oh okay.” I layed down on the bed beside him knowing he wasn’t going to get up soon, plus we were really close with him being here for five years and being the beta of my pack. He put his arm around me and kissed the top of my head. “You know I think he likes you.”
I gave a slight laugh, “Ha yeah right, plus even if he did you know that he’s only human and that we weres (pronounced wherez) have our mates.”
“Yes, but you know just as well as I do that humans take crushes seriously; and that it might be harder for you to find your mate than it will be for us to find ours.” I sighed and nodded my head. We both knew this. Being an alpha female my mate will also hold some extra power. Alpha’s especially boys are never in an orphanage so he won’t end up here; it’s also very rare for people to move/visit here because it’s such a small town and it’s pretty boring. I’ve already decided it, but I haven’t told anyone, that I would be okay if I didn’t find my mate because I have the boys that always come through here. I have their love and I love them and that’s good enough for me, but if anyone from my pack heard this they would not agree and try to change my mind, I won’t let that happen. I got up, and stood on Blaine’s bed, shaking Adam. “Adam, Adam, babe you need to wake up.” Yeah I can’t really help it but whenever I wake someone up I use pet names like babe sweetheart and buddy, I think it’s a family thing because my mom also did it. Anyways, he had started to get up and I kissed his hair, “You need to get up or you’ll get the really bad cereal.” With that I got down and ran into my room. I quickly put on some eyeliner and mascara, a pair of dark-wash skinnys, and a red undershirt with a black light weight button sweater over the top. I pulled on some socks and black ankle boots with a 3 inch heel on them that was thick. For my hair I just pulled it into a side braid. I speed walked out of the room into the kitchen. All the boys were there and I smiled. The coffee was ready so I got a cup of that with cream and a peach. I skulled down the coffee and started on the peach when I saw the time.
“Alright everyone time to go!” yelled to them. We all grabbed our backpacks and if you drove keys. I was in charge of dropping off the elementary kids, Blaine and Ethan dropped off the middle school kids, and the rest went to the high school. All of us would ride the bus, but we live in the forest so the bus doesn’t come out here. After dropping off the kids I sent Blaine a mind message saying I was going to the high school now, he said Ethan was a little behind him so he was waiting but other than that they would be there in a minute. So I went to school and parked the car near the guys who were already there. I watched them socialize as I got out of the car Brooks said something and Adam looked a little disappointed but hid it quickly. That was weird.
