Today's the day. Today I will officially enter my first world skating competition.

"Wake up sleepy head!" Eliza chanted, hitting me with a pillow over and over again. But I wouldn't give her the satisfaction of waking me up. I couldn't. I won't. "What? Do you want to be late for the competition or something?" She asked, fake concern radiating from her voice.

"Go awa-" Wait... Did she say what I think she did..? "LATE?!" I screeched and fell out of bed, scrambling to get everything I needed. "Why Didn't You Get Me Up Earlier-" I stopped when I heard her laughing. "What's so funny?! I'm going to b-" Eliza wheezed, pointing to the clock that read, '5:43 AM'.

I stared at her, dropped my duffle bag, kicked off my shoes, flopped onto the bed, and groaned. "You have no idea how much I hate you right now." I mumbled into the sheets. Eliza sat next to me, rubbing my back. "Oh come on (Y/N), don't be like that!" She snickered, "I've never seen you change so fast!"

Sitting up, I punched her shoulder, "Screw you and your stupid sarcasm!" I said smacking her with a pillow. She only rolled her eyes and got up, grabbed her room key, and told me to meet her at the rink for some last minute practice. Of course, I had to agree. So, after making myself a cup of tea and getting properly dressed, I made my way there.

The sound of fans screaming out for their favourite skaters, and the voices of the commentators calling out the name of each skater to match their respective countries was deafening. It was exactly what anyone would fear going into their first major competition. Tuning something like this out would be impossible for most anyone.

One by one, the skaters go through their routines. Then I hear it, the most beautifully horrifying set of words. "... Next, representing England,  (Y/F/N)!"

This was it. This would be the deciding factor if I could go on to be a great skater. This was everything I had worked so hard to achieve. Closing my eyes for a brief second, and taking a deep breath, I stepped onto the ice. One glide after the other, I skated around the rink, waving and smiling to everyone I could before making my way to the center of the rink. Once there, I took my starting position.

The room around me fell silent as the music began; it was time for me to tell my own story...
