I stared at Klaus kneeling before me and didn't move. I couldn't think of what to say or what to do.

I was king now.

What the hell was I supposed to do now?

This was all I ever wanted and now I had it.

"Stand," I said to Klaus.

He quickly got to his feet. The guard was tall and I had to look up to look him the eye.

I didn't know what to say or how to thank him. I had always liked Klaus but I had never known he was so loyal to me.

When I hadn't said anything for a long time, only stared at Klaus, he said, "Your Majesty?"

I blinked, swallowing. "Thank you, Klaus," I finally managed to say. I was in shock, that was it. "I don't think I can ever truly repay you for what you've just done."

"You've always been king to me," he said, looking down at me with a fond expression. He had just killed a man and it didn't look like he was fazed at all by it.

My uncle was laying in a pool of blood ten feet away from us and we were carrying on a conversation like it was nothing. I was definitely in shock.

"Let me handle this, Your Majesty," Klaus said when I said nothing yet again. "Go to Camille and I will tell the council about this."

I opened and closed my mouth. "But what are you going to tell them?"

"The truth," he said. "A man came in while your uncle was alone and I found him after it was too late. You weren't here for any of it." He winked.

I couldn't believe this was happening.

"I'll protect you if I need to, Klaus. I won't let anything happen to you," I promised.

"Don't worry about me," he said with a smile. "Go to your pet. But I would keep this a secret between only people you trust the most."

I nodded but still hesitated.

He nodded his head at me and I finally turned to leave the throne room.

I walked through the halls of the castle very slowly, realizing that my life was going to be completely different from now on.

I was king.

And we were going to war.

I had to make plans and arrangements. I would need to go to the noble houses throughout the kingdom and ask them to join the war. We didn't have enough guards here to form a whole army. We would have to visit villages and convince people as well.

So much was going to be happening within the next couple weeks and I needed to prepare.

I needed to prepare Camille as well.

I would need to bring him with me because there was no way I was leaving him and letting him out of my sight a second time. The first time had ended in disaster and I wouldn't risk it again.

We were meant to be together. We shouldn't be apart.

I would feel much better if he was with me.

As I made my way to my rooms, I considered another thing.

Camille and I could get married now.

With my uncle out of the way, no one could stop us.

I knew Camille would still be hesitant. He wasn't sure we should get married, but maybe I could finally convince him.
