"All right, Catey, I'm going to hang up on you now because I know you have school tomorrow and you should get some sleep. ... I don't care if you can't sleep right now, try to force yourself to sleep! ... Dude, I'm not!-Never mind, good night." I hit the end call button and sigh as I fall back into my couch. I run my hand through my short hair and let it fall down my face as I let out a low but really stretched out groan. My hand hits my side and I slouch farther into the cushions. I should really be going to sleep, too.
I open my eyes and look at my coffee table in front of me. Is there anything I can do on it? Let's see... newspaper comics from two days ago, a book I've read four times, the TV remote, my cat creepily staring at me, a Sudoku book... I look back at my cat and scream. She doesn't even flinch and instead blinks after my panicking subsides.
"What the hell, Maize?!" I ask her as if she could respond. "You gave me a heart attack!" She only blinks again. "Why do I even bother?..."
I start to open my mouth for another one-sided conversation between me and Maize, but I hear a loud noise come from outside my tiny house. Maize hops off the table and casually walks to the window and hops onto the ledge to peek through the blinds. I wish I had her bravery sometimes... I see through the blinds that my trash cans have been knocked over, but I don't see any person. I wonder if it was just the wind or a raccoon?
Maize hops back down off the sill and makes her way over to the door. She paws at it and lets out a quick and quiet meow. She never does that unless there's someone she likes outside. I guess it wasn't the wind or another animal. I think about who it could possibly be, especially at this time.
I come up with no answers. I can't think of anyone that I know who would be at my house this late. Or even someone that I knew that would stupidly knock over my trash cans. It was a person though and my cat liked this person.
A someone knocks, more like pounds, on my door. I'm pretty scared now but my cat insists that they are nice my meowing some more and pawing at the door. I guess I should open it.
I grab my phone and turn it on, making sure to put the speed dial to the police in before doing anything else. I cautiously stand up from my couch and creep over to the door. I look through the little thing to see the person outside but it's too dark and the light above my door hasn't worked since the bulb went out last Halloween.
"I swear if this is a murderer and you were just messing with me this whole time, cat, I'll rise back up from my grave and take away all nine of your lives!" I hiss at Maize. She blinks at me and paws at the door again.
I sigh and reach for the knob with a shaky hand. I turn it slowly and my cat backs up for the door to open. I pull open the door at snail speed but something is pushing on it and I was not prepared for any extra weight. The door slams into my head and the person who must've been leaning on it falls to my floor. Maize jumps into the air and runs to the couch while I fall back and onto my butt, holding my head where I got hit.
I groan and the person face first into the floor groans and my cat lets out a meow as she walks back over to me and the person. I look at my hand to see if I'm bleeding and thankfully I'm not. Then, I look at the person on my floor. It's a girl with really long blonde hair and she's wearing a flowy dress that's kind of showing off her butt. Whoops, didn't mean to see that...
I blush and start to stand up when the girl groans. "Matt, I need help here..."
She starts to push herself up and manages to get propped up onto her shoulders and pushes her hair out of her face. She's got a kind of dopey looking smile on her face as she blinks slowly and tries to take in the room around her.
"Matt... Help me up please." the girl manages to hold herself up on one elbow and holds out her other hand towards me. Without thinking, I take her hand and pull her up quickly. She was really light. "Woah..." She groans and goes pale. "I'm gonna... I'm gonna-"

Short StoryI found someone's story idea that I liked on Pinterest (from someone's Tumblr account probably) and thought, "Hey, this would be a fun thing to write!" So here it is. It's just a quick little one-shot (that could turn into two). Also, the person who...
